Hi guys. here's my project. Technically it's my old lady's jeep..but its mine
I have a 76 F-100 project im working on as well, I had sold my 02 Cavalier 2 days before my old lady wrecked her 04 Focus to fund my truck project I ended up selling the wrecked focus for $700 as a parts car.She found the XJ for $700 , we got it for $500
We needed a cheap beater to drive for a month till we got another vehicle. It's been 6 months

the previous owner used it to haul hay bails around his farm for a few years.then it sat a few more years, became a home for outside cats. The inside was very disgusting. the seats & carpet are ruined. I spent literally 2 days cleaning the inside.had to replace the radiator hoses and thermostat on the side of the road , 20 min after I bought it!

its a 91 XJ , 4.0 , AW4 ,NP231 , Dana 35 & 30 . it had 226,xxx miles when I got it . the key falls out of the ignition, the door locks and handles are broken and jerry rigged with zip ties! pull on a zip tie to open the door! turn signal switch is broken, cruise control unexpectedly kicks in and accelerates!carpet and seats are nasty 4x4 dont work,rockers are rusted out, the front axle is junk , bad u joints & bearings . the good is , it has a clear title , and a rebuilt trans and tcase with not even 2000 miles.

 

about 2 weeks after having it, the motor started knocking , rear main seal went. We pulled a 200xxx mile motor from a 96 Grand Cherokee and put it in. I used the 96 block and head, and put the 91 fuel management and exhaust / accessories on it and put it back in. That was just to keep rolling for another month till we got another vehicle... here I am 6 months later still driving it

Here she is as of now . we got the rims / tires off the 96 donor vehicle that we got the motor from. having all 4 matching tires with tread , balanced was nice!












soon to be replaced with gauges!!

Just replaced the front passenger seat today. the driver seat and back seat will be replaced sometime through out the week.

 

so at the junk yard there is a 93 Xj sport that Ive been planning to get parts from. I spent $60 yesterday and got 2 front seats, back seat, tilt steering column with wheel & key. Door locks,latches, interior handles, door panels,dash board bezel , gauge cluster, glove box latch,center console lid,rear glass washer tank ,vacuum lines from under the hood and misc nuts and bolts.

I still need to get the seat belts,front sway bar, more vacuum lines, vacuum ball under the bumper, CAD module (?) from front axle.

Last week the rear axle seal went and now its leaking the gear oil. As of now im just checking and adding gear oil until I figure out what im going to do.

I have another jeep lined up for parts . It has a GOOD smooth running motor and good axles. Im just waiting for my friend to get it , so he can part it out!
