Default jeep limited straight axle build

Aloha i have a 93 jeep cherokee limited I'm not familiar with jeeps but i wanted to take a straight axle from an xj and put it on my zj but i was wondering if it's a plug and play swap or if there's more to it then simply swapping axles?
Any information anyone may have on this swap would be appreciated thanx.

Uh....all cherokee's came with solid axles, unless you are referring to a 2wd to 4wd swap. Not really getting what you are trying to do.

Not if it's a 93...

Perhaps a picture would help. I'd certainly like to see this IFS ZJ.

Swapping an XJ Dana 30 into a ZJ is a direct swap.

The rear axle is not a direct swap as XJ's have leaf springs and ZJ's have coil springs.

PS: He wasn't being sarcastic. He's right.

Also, the ZJ is the grand cherokee, years 93-98. The only jeeps with IFS are the brand new jeeps, and the transition model after the WJ to the current new grand cherokee. Even if you have a 2wd, it is stilll a solid axle beam. Not trying to be a dick dude,

For people to help you out, we need to know what model and year jeep you actually own

XJ (regular cherokee)
ZJ (Grand Cherokee)
WJ (99-2004)

Then, what are you trying to do, convert to 4 wheel drive, upgrade axles or whatever.

Here's the thing:

THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE.

A 1993 Jeep Cherokee Limited would be an XJ
A 1993 Jeep GRAND Cherokee Limited would be a ZJ

Everyone here has read your post, and it doesn't make sense. What you're stating is an impossibility. What do you think is more plausible, that you are wrong? Or that all of us are wrong?

Does your Jeep look like this:

Or does it look like this:

I read what you said...and a cherokee, limited or otherwise is an xj. A grand cherokee is a zj for the years we are talking about.

You have a Jeep Grand Cherokee. You can swap u-joint shafts from a Jeep Cherokee directly into your axle and be done. No more CV shafts.

I believe your confusion with terminology made this much more difficult than it should have been.

Read up on this stuff next time before asking.

a picture really does a thousand words lol.

You can swap the axle shafts for ones with ujoints. Get axle shafts from a 97 and newer xj that way you get the bigger ujoints

No need to worry about the gearing
