Picture of new radio. Just went with 99.99 model from bestbuy.com. iPod control. Pretty good for the price and I'm happy with it. Very basic though

Yeah. Then I got inside and opened it up to remember how overwhelming it is at first. Worst part is that I'm gonna try to get it all on the weekend, but then I might have to wait another 3 weeks until the tires and flares get here. It's killing me!

Got about 4 hours in feeling lazy. Got the coils in and the lowers so far. Having an issue with getting the uppers in. Any idea?

cob24 03-12-2012 01:06 AM

Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Went to change the uppers out and the axle had shifted way to much. Had to ratchet to the crossmember to pull it back in there. Then the other upper has a stripped but that I still can get off. Two days in and not even half way done. Moved into the rear and having trouble with the existing c clip so having trouble getting enough room to get drivers side leaf in. Got passenger side in. Siting in my buddies garage for second straight night on jack stands. Gotta buy a dremel tool tomorrow to try to cu the stripped nut off. Then get back to that brake line.

Tires, wheels and flares came in today. Still stuck on the dang bolt though. Gonna try to find a sawzall. But now it's torture!!!

Looking good so far I've just been starting out on mine and have busted a bunch of boots already because it's so rusted. My suggestion is buy yourself some liquid wrench at your local hardware it's just a lubricant that eats through the rust and starts to free the bolts and nuts up. Best of luck

Ok I just noticed you already had something like liquid wrench never mind lol my bad sorry bout that

You shoulda gone with iro man. They have some solid stuff. Helped my uncle install his 6.5" long arm from iro and everything was pure beef. He says it rides way better than he expected too. I'll def be going with them when I order my lift. This is a pic of his when we finished. But it's your jeep build it how you want it man just throwing my 2 cents out there. Can't wait to see yours installed though. What tires you go with?

Hey I know that jeep. His uncle is in my Offroad club :) His jeep is awesome looking.

VICTORY!!! Sawzall dremel tool and a flat head screwdriver. Took about 6 sawzall blades to finally get it and then the thread finally came free.

About 20 hours into the lift, 6 or seven of those spent on getting that bolt off. Hoping to put front shocks and brake lines in tonight and if I have time tcase drop too. Then I can at least get it out of my buddies garage and start cutting in the bushwhackers tomorrow

Got almost the whole lift done to the point where I can drive it to and from work. Still need to do the front brake lines and the quick discos but I bled the brakes and there's plenty of room on the fronts. Had the battery disconnected for the last two weeks and when I turned it on the check engine light was on. Electric fan won't go off either. Can figure out why there are mechanical issues under the hood when all I did was disconnect the dang battery. But either way it's sitting higher. Hopefully Saturday afternoon ill be able to cut the bushwhackers on and get the 33's on there. Here's a pic of stock tires with 4.5 kit.

Fixed the fan issue. Some sensor needed to unplugged and plugged back in. Drive around today having forgotten to tighten the lug nuts after I lowered the vehicle. Someone on another thread said I was lucky I didn't wind up on the news. I agree. Now I'm having an issue when I put her in reverse. So many mechanical issues that I haven't dealt with on the previous xj and this one seemed to be in far better shape. Somehow I have managed to make the check engine light come on by screwing with the suspension.

I went to get started on the bushwackers so I could get the tires on and discovered the unfortunate truth that cutting fenders with a dremel is a bit unrealistic. Got as far as in te picture before splitting my first disk. Need to get a pitman arm puller to get the bolt out for the discos too. This project has turned into quite the nightmare for me. I leaving the family next Monday for another 6 weeks so I've decided that I'm going to quit panicking about it and finish it when I get home from the field. It sits in my garage now with the battery disconnected. Huge bummer but it's almost peaceful to not be panicking an rushing through it. Gonna buy a grinder when I get back and get those flares on. Then rent a pitman arm. Probably gonna have to buy some grease fitting too because it appears that the ones that came with the kit aren't taking grease and are squeaking as I drive. Pretty sure I need a new gasket on the Dana 30 too so while I'm removing that I'm gonna buy a new cover too. That's it for the update
