well I guess I'll just try it out till it breaks.
2 of those shafts sheared off clean at the unit bearing on the stub shaft. The other sheared off clean at the locker.

I don't see an obstacle and think "OH I can break something on that!"

But I do tend to have the "Don't give a ****" mentality when I get in a bind.

I want to be able to mash the throttle if I need to.

Stuff like this.

If you got the stuff for cheap then you might as well run it. You're just going to have to be careful on the throttle.

You ever seen a wheel fall of when you break a joint?

(I DESPISE MUD!) Jesus Christ, that was a LOOONG time ago.
Broke the joint, pulled off the huge rock face that I was on and when I did the ear binded and seperated the ball joints. The only thing holding the wheel on was the tie rod and the brake line.

Whatcha think about that sketchy *** jack setup. lol

ehhh not much man. im going to start trimming the fenders soon.
I plan on cutting and folding the rear quarters, and building a custom bumper kinda like this one Paraleyes on jeepforum built.

I ordered these bump stops off ebay
$21 shipped.
they're for 97-07 tj's
but i knew i could make them work.
they're a lot thicker then the ones for xj's,
and i like them better since they're bolt on

i had 4 of these laying around

Welded the nut that came with the bump stops on top of a washer

then i used this bolt.
two washers stacked

tacked it up and made sure it was straight

welded it up

done

super strong, 5" of bump stop.

Well after months of research and planning I've decided to throw out the rear 4 link coil conversion plans and just go with leaf springs.

Leaf springs are just more practical for me, and for what I plan on doing with my jeep. Time and money were also a factor.

anyway.
I just ordered a set of 3.5" leaf springs from Iron Rock Off Road
http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...egory_Code=XSP

I called them up and talked about what they offer.
These springs are made in North America
they are military wrapped
come with polyurethane bushings
they have a life time warranty
And they are reasonably priced.

I also went ahead and ordered some spring perches and U-bolts for my 8.8.

I plan on running these springs with a 1.5" boomerang shackle
and maybe fabbing up a shackle relocation setup.

UPDATE

leaf springs, perches, and u bolts came in.

i haven't welded the perches on yet, i bought a tom woods drive shaft and a NP231 Tcase with a SYE installed in it from a buddy of mine who was parting out his XJ. After i get the SYE and drive shaft installed ill be able to set my pinion angle and weld the perches.

the Tcase i bought has 200k+ miles on it and had some nasty fluid in it.

so i desided to take the SYE out and swap it into my Tcase.

im still in the process of this swap.

thanks dude

I have all the tools and equipment, so I figure I might as well use them.
And its saving me so much money too.

I'm only 20 years old. I honestly have no fabricating background. Everything I'm building has been thought out and planned in my head, then I just start taking junk apart, cutting some steel, and piecing it together.

So if you have the time and tools, you can do this too.
