Default 'Its for the Baby'

Sold my Pick-em-up cause the bench seat was 'impractical' due to the fact that I managed to impregnate my dearly beloved. Secretly I have been eying the cherokee for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I dropped about 500 getting the damn thing smogged and insured, another 420 to register it, 120 on the brakes (still got to do the drums) but I did manage to cover the old faded black paint with a nice OD.

Suspension, needed horribly. Zero in the rear. Leafs are flat, shocks are useless and the bump stops are gone. The way I baby it through parking lots is truly belittling of a jeep. Could use some up-front work too. I'm thinking of somewhere between a 1.5 and 2.5 inch lift on her. nothing too extreme. not sure about tires yet. 31s at most.

motor, got a bit of a whine i am addressing, but besides a few old ticks, she's real strong. Tranny shifts pretty good. Getting into first is a struggle, but I'm not too worried. I'm still learning this thing and its ways...

went to throw her into four wheel today and got some gnarly banging. I got real scared, turns out, whatever idiot put the exhaust on, dropped the pipe straight down and laid it right against the knuckle joint for the front dif. awesome. so, looks like she'll be getting her exhaust upgrade a little early...sweet. pics tomorrow, I promise... til then, romp 'em hard. its easy on the bumps for me till I decide how I want to address this suspension...think i'l have a look around

"it's for the kids" was the same line I used on my wife. Seemed to work quite well.

For the kids? Wouldn't a 4 door be a better choice?

I thought about the four door, but I like the nimble feel of the 5 speed in the twodoor. The real family car is the WRX, this jeep is just to be able to get the little family out into the woods a little further than I am willing to take the Subaru...not that it isn't capable in itself. either way, I'm super stoked on my new toy.

Default Missing the Dodge...

Not that it was anything special, but the Pick-up I just hawked for this Jeep took me many a place. Got me through some pretty rough times, and I had big plans for her. I miss the Holley fed 318ci ****ting straight into a glasspack. Sat on a brand new tranny rebuild, but I think the 8ft bed is what I miss most. When it comes down to the last shot, I'm a Pick-up Man...

But this damn Jeep is Growing on me. The Misses has a brand spanking new WRX that I have at my disposal (her belly's starting to rub the wheel ), and still, I hop in the Heep...

I finally unboxed the Pro Comp lift and got at it. The front end is on and done, pain in the ***. Thank God my Brother in Law was kind enough to lend his hand.

The rear, well I got the shocks. Easy. Leafs, not so much. ran out of time, and daylight. Never got them off to swap locating pins. Wasn't aware in the start that it would be neccesary. So, I had to slap on a set of helper springs until I can get the leafs of and do it right. The leafs on there are past zero. The helpers seriously keep it at just about zero and keep me off my stops. I squeezed in a 1" block for added axle buffering...

Tomorrow is my last day without a garage. Then it is officially game on. No more of this parking lot mechanic nonsense. Maybe I'll actually get around to some motor inspections...Which reminds me, anyone out there have the High Output? What does that exactly include?

Until then, get your dirty on...

Default Garaged...

Finally got myself a suitable garage...Time for business. I got around to my rear pads, cake. Now time to hook up my add a leaf. I have a small box of parts, not quite sure what they all are. I guess I'll figure it out, but my worry right now is my brake lines. I haven't even got the suspension maxed out to unhook the leaf pack and my lines are at their max. I thought this kit had a brake line relocating kit, but I'm not sure what thats all about or if its even here. on to that box of spare parts I reckon...

**** I wouldn't run that WRX...its the only chase vehicle I got

but on another note, all that above nonsense is over...Got the suspension all worked out. man what a difference.

now to tackle my next set of issues. starting with my ignition switch. Don't have much of one to speak of, more or less just a steering lock, worthless... then on to the actual ign. system itself... plugs, wires, cap, rotor...the shebang
