Might be the k&n? its easier to suck up water. Did you notice and more power with the k&n? I did mine and all I found was that it sounded cool lol. Still need to make a heat shield for it.

You can get it scanned for like 10 bucks or so.
I would look at replacing the diff oil and extend the breather lines..Major cost is oil lol rubber and even a 99cent filter will help to not suck up water again!
Also I mention it before but look into a cowl intake! Great option for a true cold air setup!

Any future plans yet bud?

I noticed alot of power, and a different idle, with the k@n, I like it, but my future plans are, my exhaust, and my lift after christmas..

Well its been three or two months since i've posted on my build, Not much to report, I got a new job. Working at Perkins as a disher/cook, more money to throw at the jeep. Which is always nice.

I've straight piped, her, shes got a rumble deep throaty sound to her, she sounds nice, and shakes the windows in my house, I did a complete tune up the other day. Since its getting warmer i'm throwing more money at the jeep.

In a few weeks, my good friend/garage owner, is selling/installing a 4.5in Rough Country lift, with a set of 31s on it, I just need time to come up with the money, thats next on my list, Also I have new Grand Cherokee seats, and a CB to install, and am going to repaint my bumpers, and put roof lights on.. stay tuned.

I want to bring my build back, So here goes nothing.. This thread is dead, but I intend on keeping it up now.

Update: 1996 Jeep XJ

After some fighting, and brawling, I got my lift on 3.5in at the moment, nothing to fancy, still awaiting tires. I also Need to do a SYE and Drive Shaft, since i'm getting tons of vibration.

I've Painted my valve cover, threw on a breather, Ripped Air Filter box, and Put in a Cowl intake, with a heat shield. Totally undercoated all of my undercarriage, and have fabricated a new rear bumper, since my stock one got messed up when I got rear ended.

My Current plans are, to paint my diff covers, Get some sway bar disconnects, do my SYE, Tires, and go from there.

Also I'm building a 350 Small block for the jeep, and Work at Advanced Auto parts now, Will upload pics tomorrow morning for you all to enjoy my budget build Jeep XJ.

Welcome back! Looking to possibly due an under carriage soon myself. Do a bit of sand driving and don't want mine to get eaten over time. My friend coated the under carriage of his 90 f150 recently himself (he's a contractor so painting with a sprayer is nothing new) not sure exactly what he used, but it looks pretty good though

Howd u plan on doing it?

Just gonna blast it clean, and buy some black rattlecan, and do it that way, My friend recently did it to his 90, Bought new bolts for his diff covers, and painted them red to match the jeep, looks pretty nice.

Well, I bombed my undercarriage and my diffs today, glossy black. Fixed up my old sway bar links, for now, one seems deadly close to my coil, its bent..

And buying a set of 31s
