Genetic Disposition Time To Build This Thing
Started with a $500 XJ off cregs list. 99 that was in a wreck. After new D30 drive shaft t-case header panel lights ext. It was driving. Friend with parts owed me $175 and we settled. It was kinda a favor as well. So ended up with this. After a budget boost and 31s

$5 Lower track bar bushing trashed my 31s. So had some 33's from a previous build left over and got most of a 5.5" for $250 after a hole bunch of part trading.

As you can see a ton of rubbing and didn't like the look. So same guy JeepCoMJ had a set of wackers for a TJ he couldn't use and a different buddy was moving accrost country and couldn't take his 36's. So end up with this.

So wheeled it a little just mud and trails. Still has stock gears and and all that. Just got to this point trying to keep her on the road without spending all my money and to this point all the parts I got were cheeper then stock replacements. This includes the 136 amp alt I picked up for $50 out of a 2003 Dakota. This was spouse to stay a stock DD but the Jeep keeps coming out. But got a free little boost and the build really starts now. I picked up a D60 with a detroit and 4.10s to go with a D44 closed knuckle king pin with a detroit and 4.10s. So now I mean to build it.

Wasted 2 days first one on my pos car, never ever buy a VW. Second day attempted to make a stand to work on the axles. Didn't go well scratched that waste of time and went with good old jack stands.

keep up the progress.
honestly it sounds like it would be ideal for you to have another cherokee to use as mock-up for your axles/suspension to set the angles and long arm lengths.

Progress is slower then I expected and considering a disk conversion. Needs all new brakes any way and barrings. And yes rats nest in the drum. Also picked up some 1/4" for brackets and some 3/16" for the truss.

Axles side lined for now. Taking her out next month so need to focus on a few other things. Snorkel, bumper, new flairs with more trimming, If I have time tube doors and bedlinen floors. Have to work at 3am tom so won't work on her tonight and past 2 days been rebuilding the front end in Grandpas old Ford TW20. Dang this is taking to long already.

Set backs suck. Wanted to use 3" tubing for the snorkel. Knew it would crease but this is not acceptable. So 2.5" it is. Picked it up today and should have this dune in a few days.

Slowly making progress on that snorkel will post up picks when dune. But so I didn't get frustrated on that and wind up rigging it just to get it dune. I set off to get some font recovery. Had a rear bumper I was making and lost interest in. So new mounts, light mounts, and angling back the sides since the it was straight being a a rear. Not perfect but with a receiver and D-ring mounts it will pull me out for now. And it was all free steel I had around. Also using the factory fog switch out of a JY for the lights. Here's the pics from my crappy phone.
