Post First Project

Got a 1995 Cherokee sport last week off of Graiglist for 300 its a project.I am Kinda new at jeeps..But boy do i love to drive it.It has a rear bent axle, and some hose leaks but other than that runs fine.Dents here and there.I can only feel the bent axle when I hit 50-60 mph.. I will Fix it Sooner Or later. But I was wondering i am thinking about making this a off-roading machine..by adding a 6 inch lift, new bumpers, rack with lights,bigger/thicker tires..etc..
Any Buddy got any other ideas??

Nice find! looks like a pretty good start to a project, and its nice that you got some possible factory front tow hooks
Any serious rust to deal with?
And im assuming its the 4.0?
With a six inch lift, mine as well replace the axles with something a little bit beefier anyways.
Is this going to be a DD or strictly off-road?
You mind find that a 3" or 4.5" lift will be plenty unless you plan on doing some serious off-roading!

Great deal you got there. Do a lot of reading of other peoples posts and look at their albums. As stated by bmrrwolfe 3-4.5" lift is plenty for anything short of a dedicated trail rig.

If your on a stricter budget i would say the 3" or 4.5" Rough Country kit, but the higher you go the more indepth it gets, with driveline angles, SYE's, control arms etc.
I went with a 3.5" superride kit from Rubicon Express, its a bit pricey but its a great high quality kit and sits at about 4" and i clear 265/75R16s (32") tires and have not needed a SYE yet, but be sure with whatever kit you get full leaf packs! i made that mistake and needed a set of lift shackles almost right away which actually helped my driveline angle out a bit though.
3" lift 31" tires
4.5" lift 33" tires
bigger if you want to do some trimming
This is what a 3.5" RE lift with 32" tires looks like when all clean and shiney!

With a 4.5" kit and 33s, you will still have to trim quite a bit for flex. If you went bigger, you'd have to trim a lot. HTH!!
