First Jeep build '85/88
A bit of background to this project and how it started. I scored a deal on a '85 Cherokee with a 2.5 in it that was practically rust free (rare 'round these parts). I have a couple of minor spots to fix on the floor board behind the driver's seat, but that's it. A few weeks later the carb was dumping fuel and, seeing as I hate carbs, I decided that a I6 swap was in order along with a few other 'minor' things along the way. I know some will ask why I'm doing this when I could just buy another XJ with a 4.0 already in it, but it's more the fun of just doing this.
So then..here's the '85 that everything is going into.
and here is the '88 that I ended up with as a donor vehicle going in...
and coming back out to be destroyed...
The motor has a slight leak by the front main seal that I'll be taking care of before it goes into my Jeep. I figured I might as well do it, the rear main, and the oil pan gasket while I'm doing this.
I'll be posting up more pics and updating the pictures as I go. The exhaust on the white Jeep had a huge crack in the manifold so I bought a pacesetter header just to have something cheap to put on it for now. Eventually it'll get replaced with something better and a full catback will be in order. I have a couple of sets of wheels already for it and going to pick up some stock wheels with a set of 31's on them just to drive around on. There's plenty of plans for this and I'll keep everyone updated as I go. It'll be a fun project and I'm already enjoying this. Once it gets to a point I can drive it the Jeep will be put on hold for a little bit while I work on my 240sx again since I did that to work on the Jeep.
