My name is Kyle "kdot" Morrison. I play competitive Counter Strike, and work for an NBA-D League affiliate team. But in my spare time, I do a little DIY wrenching..
Everything I ever have done, I had to figure out myself- no one ever standing over my shoulder to guide me so excuse the amount of questions I ask of mechanical nature.
My buddy has owned this 1998 XJ since we were in high school- and kept all service records! Anyways, he brought it over to my house one day asking for advice about a 'tick'. I already knew, 0331 casting, (wrenched on a enough dodge's) and he blew the motor, and scratched up enough to need sleeves.
So, instead of him taking it to a scrapyard and getting 350$ for it, I gave him 350$, towed it myself and took all hassle off of my friend- he was relieved and I got a new toy.
So, I bought a remanned 4.0L, bored over only .020, but runs extremely well. The motor was remanned with better casting pistons and some other extra's for durability that OEM would naturally fail. Now, after 2 months of getting it running correctly, some work on the t-case and torq conv.
Here she is..
I dont want to lift, just solid load assist shocks, and a tight front end. No real extravagent plans, other than cleaning up the body/rust, and some interior work. This is my DD and I live in the great white north Michigan.
