Default Denver 1999 XJ Sport "build"

Hi there!

I bought this stock Chili Pepper Red XJ a few weeks ago and have currently thrown almost twice as much money as I paid for it in upgrades. It was a one family owned car with 140k miles, some leaks, some rust, very nice interior/paint, and most importantly the right price as trying to buy one in Colorado can be ridiculous.

I don't know how much of a build thread this will be, but hey I can post pretty pictures. The goal is just enough utility to go out and explore the mountains trails and not get too crazy.

Here she was...

Here she is now after...

RE 3.5" Super-Ride with full leafs
RE monoshocks
TC drop
31" BFGs on 15x8 steelies
RE trackbar
Heavy duty steering kit
New steering stab
New bump stops
New inner axle seals
Magnaflow muffler
Front tint

She rubs a bit so I plan on cutting and relocating the front fenders up to the body line. Next on the list is new stereo system and fix leaks. This will wipe out the remainder of my upgrade budget so my dream list of steel bumpers, winch, and safari basket will have to wait.

Cheers!

I'm mechanically inclined but decided to save myself the time and hassle, so labor charges put a dent on my overall budget. Damn, I could of had a front bumper and winch if I wasn't so lazy!

Dang yeah I bet having all that stuff installed cost a good chunk but I understand the lazy lol. Took me like two months to actually get around to replacing my blower motor. I'd look under the hood and think "damn that's looks like a pita."

What bumper do you want?

It blows my mind every time I get a quote to have something done to one of my vehicles. I get to a point and I say eh I don't have time and don't want to do this lets see what it costs. Get the quote and immediately drive home and think to myself hmmm, $1300 for water pump and coolant flush/refill on my f250 nah I'll do it myself for $400 and take that $900 and buy something fun. I end up spending the same amount of money, curse a lot bust some knuckles in the process and in the end I know its done right and I get something fun as an added bonus.

Congrats on the Jeep, it's looking sweet by the way! Sorry for my off topic rant there.

I'm a bit undecided, but I really like the prices of Nate's 4x4 bumpers.

I changed the head gasket on my old 2002 Civic once because I didn't want to pay $1200. Well, I pretty much spent the equivalent on both time put into it, tools I had to buy, and busted knuckles, beers, and sheer PITA.

I knew I would have ran into rusted shut bolts, broken this, bent that, forgotten hardware, and the Jeep would have been in pieces for a week in my driveway with about a dozen new gray hairs.
