Thats how mine looked about three years ago.(MasterShakeXJ) My paint only looks good because people keep hitting it. I do like boatsides and maybe someday I'll retire it from DD so I can start doing so. Untill then I plan cutting out rusty rockers(Det. winters suck) and replacing them w/3x4 box tube. Kinda wish Gen-Right would produce the kit on their site. I buy it in a heartbeat. Anyways, love the liner on the sides I plan on doing same to lower doors. Still have to finish rear trim job on quarters, and add 35s. Nice thread hope to see more.

it's got plenty of scratches and whatnot, you just cant see them in the pics. i removed all the trim, and im gonna take the flares off soon. it got put on hold for a while, for lack of money and time haha
Well here's how perfect a 31" fits in the well with a cut and fold. I need discos bad. Maybe the front would flex more then? My front drivers side wheel is not touching the ground in this pic.

Also, any and all constructive criticism is fine with me.

If I had a way to trailer it I would. It's gotta be my DD for quite a while before I can start doing any serious fabbing so this build is probably going to be pretty drawn out. I gotta let my fab skills develop anyways.Originally Posted by Irongrave
lose the front sway bar and you'll get more flex
I plan on making my own. Found some nice velcro straps would work perfect for suspending the sway bar when it's disconnected.
My rear sway bar is still attached. I have a feeling its on its way out...

My shackle angle isn't too great either...

I need new springs, but I want to try and minimize useless spending. When I get new springs they're going to be a bastard pack or lift springs, so I also have to be ready to buy everything to do an SYE. I have the whole "If it's broken, upgrade it." mentality. I know longer brakelines can be found cheap/sourced off another vehicle so I'm not worried about those.

Your mentality is dead on.LOL. Ditch the rear sway bar and make the discos for frt. If your orginal endlinks are rusted expect to replace them, or buy a set of good discos JKS/RE. I only suggest to replace them because I used my old ones and they broke within a month. What about bumpstops? You can make those cheaply also(hockey pucks) Their is a good writeup on this at GreatLakesXJ.com.

Step one: Remove rear sway bar
Then make you some new front sway bar links. Go get some ZJ links as they are 1" longer than XJ's. Remove the 55torx bolt and replace it with a hitch pin. The top bolt is a 15mm and should be replaced by a 10mm wing nut. They losen up after a while of driving so make sure you check to make sure they stay tight. I check mine about once a month. Some people just drill a small hole and put a pin in so it can't back out, like a cotter pin.

x2 - Rear sway bar doesn't do much on vehicles with leaf springs in the rear anyways. I'm not running any sway bars on mine at the moment although its not a daily driver either...
But ditch the rear sway bar and get some JKS quick disco's and you'll have a completely different ride on the trail... much more enjoyable.

Yeah my rear sway is going to be removed shortly. I'm going to figure out something for some homebrew disconnects. Already considered getting the hitch pin. When I go to ****** a ZJ gas tank skid from the JY I'll grab the end links. I'm not sure if it's a V8 or not though. If it is, I'll grab the front coils too.
In the above pictures where the rear is flexing a good bit, I was teetering.
There's a steep hillclimb locally that you can't really haul *** up. I got denied straight up because my sway bars were limiting my travel too much. I need to trim the front fenders more as well, the tires rub when turned at near the header panel. Also need to rig up some bumpstops before I do the front disco's, my coil spring ripped the crappy stock bumpstop apart when I was removing it to put the spacer on.
