If you want your jeep to ride worse then stock, get the RC 3"..if you want it to ride comparable, or better, you need additional parts including control arms, trackbar, full leafs etc.

I like the idea of a apocalypse type vehicle, and like to think of mine the same, but if your tight on money.. wtf is the point? Cause its not actually going to help you. Everyones going to be stealing cars anyways. (p.s. there is no such thing as too many zombie movies)

I think if you built a capable, reliable rig for expeditions and such, then your on the right track. But if you build a xj but don't plan on wheeling it, and its only for survival.. your wacked.

Now the camera is just a waste of money, sorry to say.

Good luck on the build though!

So snag #1 I was driving home today and was at a stop sign and realized I needed to reverse. We I put it in reverse and heard a clunk that sounded like just the gears changing. Then the check engine light came on. So tomorrow I have to drive to the auto hobby shop on base and get the ODBII checked.

I don't know much about four wheeling or jeeps in general. My dad is the Four Wheeler, but he only runs International Scouts.

I think the idea of nuclear apocalypse is what I should center a different rig around, dieseal something so I can make my own fuel.

Now as for my cherokee I really just want to have a smoother ride to work and back. Go hunting in the mountains and like I did earlier drive off road and speed down desert trails and over unmarked grasslands. Also there is a steep hill where I live and its begging to be driven up.

So ignore the noobish flare and gadgets. I can put that spare cash towards night vision goggles instead of FLIR.

Sounds like a Iron Rock Offroad 4" Long arm is just what you need.

If you have the $$ to shell out for the kit, it will be your ticket for a smooth ride to work, as well as great suspension articulation, and a nice ride bombin through the desert.

I've got a 3" BDS lift, and its my DD when I'm not on a motorcycle.

I have no issues what so ever with my ride quality. It is, after all, a Jeep. Its not a Caddillac. It will never be one.

It flexes just fine, and I didn't shell out $1000 for it.

I also didn't have to worry about brake lines, and I didn't run into driveline issues.

Typically anything bigger than 3" you will have to address other issues. SYE or axle shims, Tcase drop, etc.

Hmm, interesting kit. What shocks would you recommend? Also I'm pretty sure my rear axle is a Chrysler 8.25 but I'm not 100% sure, my dad and I tried via visual search and it doesn't look like a Dana 35, and we found a Chrysler Symbol on the Axle. Now he has Dana 44s on his International Scout, the question is if I wanted to get two for my Cherokee, where would I and what adapters would I also need to get.

I have taken my stock Cherokee off the road a few times, not up anything major, but I do like to cruise in the desert dodging all the high shrubs, at a decent speed also, normally 25-25 mph. My friend navigates the "courses" for me. Would a set of new Axels and that kits be worth it?

Also if anyone knows where I can get a Fuel Pump and Fuel Sending Unit Assembly in one package, preferably new, I need it. Autozone, Pepboys, and Napa only have the Fuel Pump/Strainer, but not the Sending Unit Assembly. I want the whole kit.

I think the iron rock kit would go great with a set of 32" tires, some bilstein shocks if you can afford them, and maybe just some parts to beef up your axles if you feel you want to. You wouldn't need to for 32s.

A slip yoke eliminator may be necessary as well.

You dont need dual dana 44s, if you have a chrysler 8.25. In order to put the scout 44s in you would need to either figure out how to link the axle for your jeep, or how to put leafs in the front of your jeep. It would be to much work for what you plan to do.

Why can't you cut off all the old hardware and weld on new spring perches?

I'm doing something similar to the rear in my fiance's 98 TJ.

Maybe fronts and rears are different somehow, but I don't think so.

It may possibly need this new fuel pump and filter... I hope so it doesn't like being below 1/2 tank.

GAHHHH!!! I took my jeep to the shop today and removed the fuel pump/sending unit. It was rather easy, but I made a mistake. I cracked the seals around the electrical connections because stupid me I thought the power cables come off the sending unit.

Anyways I took out the old pump and strainer, they were nasty and rusted. I cleaned it up the sending unit as best I could and installed the new pump/strainer. Then I noticed I forgot to buy a new rubber gasket. So I installed the system with the old gasket.

I put more gas in it, and instantly noticed my seal was bad. I had to drive 20 miles to a dealer to get the replacement gasket, since no one else had one. I drove back to the shop, raised the jeep took the sending unit out, removed the old gasket and put the new one back on. I then installed it, and I felt the gasket seat nice because I had to really bang on the locking ring to get it to lock.

I put some fuel in it and notice one small drop, I figure after the gas breaks down the seal a bit it will gum itself up. I get home pull into the garage and look under the jeep to see some more leak. I think its the seal again, and then I clean it up with a paper towel and notice the leak is actually coming from those electrical connection that I accidentally cranked on.

So now here I am tired and smelling of fuel. I am trying to just find a completely new sending unit for my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4.0L and I found out something... no one has one... no one... at all . Please someone someone help me find a new sending unit for my 1996! please! Also what can I temporary seal the small leak with?
