Last night...progress made!!:

I FINALLY got my Jeep on the lift last night, and made some great progress!! All I can say is THANK GOD FOR PB BLASTER!! I have been soaking the Jeep in the stuff for about a month now, and I was able to remove everything with EASE!! I forgot my camera, so...DOH, no pictures of said progress until tomorrow, sorry!! I got the following things done to the Jeep: Removed unit bearing hub assys and axle shafts, removed all steering linkage, and removed both spindles, all ball joints, & popped the diff cover off to drain oil. I still have to remove the carrier to install the locker, and remove the power steering pump and box for replacement. I will be replacing the unit bearing hubs, upgrading to the larger u-joint equipped late model axle shafts, all ball joints, new home brewed steering linkage, fabbing a steering box brace, & gas tank skid, installing the new bumpers that I just made, in addition to the new power steering box, pump, & lines. It's a LONG list, but I think I can get it done in the next week or two!! I'll post some pics up tomorrow, and hopefully I can get A LOT more done tonight!! Laters!!!

Realistically, no, but I may be. If the stars align, and the world sees fit to allow me success, then all will be good, but that never happens, so I'll prolly have to catch the next one!! It's all good though, at least it's on the lift and being worked on!!

I pulled the carrier tonight, and installed the ez locker, and reinstalled the carrier. I will be installing the ball joints, axle shafts, and new unit bearings tomorrow. Getting closer...

Last night:

I got the new ball joints installed, drilled out the spindles to 5/8" for my HD steering upgrade, installed the new axle shafts, installed the new unit bearing hub assemblies, installed the spindles, torqued everything down, pulled the pitman arm, and drilled it out for the steering upgrade as well. Everything has been going very well so far, and progress has been very easy to come by. I just hope it continues to go well!! I was planning on doing a write up on all of this stuff, but due to time, and the fact that I'm doing this all by myself, I have canned that idea. Sorry guys, I just want to get this done and start getting some wheeling in!!

a1racer 06-18-2009 01:00 PM

its ok i get like that to where you just want to finish and no more pics or typing. but at least it is coming together but i do want pics of the steering when done i think i may do mine soon
