Alright so everyone knows that jeeps sweek and crack and knock. Well I have tried to narrow some down today! First off was a stupid knocking in the back when ever I'm turning in the driveway and anytime weight changes on the different sides. Sounded like a bad wheel bearing. Found out the majority of it was my d-ring hitch banging around, one bad thing about the uni body. The other portion are the leaf springs which are new as of a little less then a year ago creeking... Good to know so i don't think it's a wheel bearing so that's a good thing. Another is a terrible sqeeking from the back seat area behind the driver... Thought it was my 31 inch tire in the stock area... Took that out.. Still happened.. Unlatched the rear seat from the brackets... Bam no more noise... I wonder if some wd40 would help that. Idk but its good unlatched for now.
So happy I found that one out but I have one that has been persistent. Its coming from the front serp belt. When we first got this jeep it had a terrible sqweell from the belt until it warmed up. I fixed that by changing the belt and then tightening to the correct tension. Now 4 years later it chirps when I am sitting still or really slow.. Sounds near the ac compressor.. Wondering if it's a pulley. Not sure anyone come across this?

Default Wish list!!

Well I have thought that it would be a good idea to start out a list of the parts that I want or the idea of the expensive parts/steps that I want to do to my jeep to make it the way I really want it.

4.56 gears-(will most likely be motive. sometime this spring. Next big step)
Rear bumper/tire carrier
Upgraded steering-ruff stuff or jcr also a M.O.R.E. steering box brace.
Skids!- Rustys front skid first and others will come.
TNT unibody stiffeners
LCA drop brackets- to help with the ride. for me there is no need for long arms at the moment or in the foreseeable future.
Rock Sliders-that have a tube step for misses. (Probably jcr)
Lockers-probably just the rear (dont want to spend alot of money this spring so later down the road)
SYE- Probably advanced adapter so i can run a front driveshaft

As I do get these parts I will be doing cheaper improvements as those never stop. Such as repainting the roof of the jeep, its starting to get checked and chipped from the sun. Also better lights then those stupid cubes in the front for driving lights, thinking about hella 500s. Also a winch with a receiver mount. I know thats not a cheap item but it will most likely happen during the list above sometime on a whim so I have no set place in the list for that. Also might go a little bit bigger with shackle relocation brackets and coil spacers in the front so I can fit 35s.... maybe... I dont think I would have a problem with them in the front wheel wells but in the back I would feel uncomfortable with just that little amount of room. Other then those things I will just be browsing the forums for some other ideas that I can do to Betty.

Thanks for input, the steering and stiffeners brand are not completely chosen. I was looking into ruff stuff and actually thinking about that instead of jcr. And the unibody stiffeners I'll have to look at. I like tnt because I have read you don't have to modify it much. But I will look into ruff stuff

Little update, been busy with school and money when to a pistol for a a while. So my speedometer decided to quit on my about a week ago, went to check my speedo gear out and found it all chewed up. Found it strange that it was only on one side and that the side was the one farthest away from the shaft that it contacts...

So ordered a new one and put it in and still nothing. The next day I went to Napa and replaced my speed sensor and I found out my original sensor, rod part snapped off into the original gear that I replaced... This would explain the wear on the gear since when this broke the gear would have been leveraged that way. Unfortunately I threw it away before I got a picture. But here is the picture of the little portion of the pin that was in thegear

Other then that I will be hopefully getting a rear bumper/tire carrier as soon as the weather gets nice. If everything goes to plan it will be a Affordable Offroad bumper. They have a couple prototype models out since they are working on making them. They look really good and for a good price, right around 650 and 500 for pick up which I would do since they are too far. This is their prototype. The newer models the bumper looks alot better. The bumper itself is the same as their elite series rear bumper with the tire carrier on it. Also it does come with unibody tie ins as well i have heard that directly from Affordable Offroad but have yet to see a picture of them

Well, haven't been on here for a bit but got another DD! Its a 07 Honda civic coupe, manual. So jeep is parked so I have more chances to work on it! Plus the jeep won't see salt so it will save my solid unibody.

So today was the first day with some good weather, so I decided to line my wheel wells with some rubberized undercoating and some bedliner on the placed that rocks hit the most. I used some rustoleum self etching primer under the rustoleum rubberized undercoating.

Now this July I will be going on 4 hour tip towing a 20 ft boat. Its a light boat so its not to bad. Will be looking into getting an aux trans cooler. BM I think? I've read about them on here and think I'll be investing into one of them later this month. Once I get some finances all good I might be looking into lockers as well. I'm not to worried about gearing anymore since its not a daily and it still has good torque for Offroad use.

I just picked up a stacked plate style cooler (like the B&M) from my local u pull it for $10 off of a v8 zj. It's looks like it should work good and for a fraction of the price of a new cooler you might want to look for one

True! I've heard of that and do need to call the local jy. Unfortunately I don't have any pull a parts around me so i have to call and see if they have what I need. I got my engine that way. Thanks for reminding me!

Well I got one job done yesterday. I got a b&m trans cooler and installed it. With the kit it came with two piece brass barb adapters. I didn't like them so I went to home depot and got the single piece barb adapters. Runs good! Easy install.

Also got a felpro valve cover gasket to fix the possible valve cover leak. When I get the oil pressure up, such as towing our boat and then the jeep smokes when it gets to the last gear, when the rpms go down. Found out it was a oil leak but not sure if its the oil pain gasket, rear main seal, or valve cover gasket. Knowing jeeps and the 4.0l I'm guessing that its the valve cover gasket. So will be doing that later in the week.

Default Valve Cover Gasket

Alright so I got one main job done yesterday. The old valve cover gasket seemed to be letting a leak through.. Overall its a very simple project. The rain and humidity was more troublesome then completing the task. As I said before I got a felpro gasket, funny thing is that the gasket I took out looked like it was a felpro gasket. It didn't look too bad.. but there were a couple bolts toward the back on the drivers side that were a little loose.. Maybe that was truly the problem but replacing the gasket doesn't hurt. On to the pictures, sorry about the quality on some, my gf took them, she did a good job for having to stretch to get a good picture because she is short lol.

These look good?

Look at all the gunk that is there! I put simple green to the test!

You might not be able to see it but the valve cover is so clean lol

You can see the blue gasket there.

Well if anyone has questions let me know. I doubt anyone will since its such a easy job. No more leaks. I will be towing my dads boat today to try and get the oil pressure up for a time and then check if there are any leaks then or if the jeep starts to smoke a little like it was before.

Hey guys it has certainly been a while since I posted on this. I have been very busy with school and work. Not much has happened to the jeep just doing alot of maintenence. I did find out my bearing and just about everything in my np231 Transfer case was shot. Sooooo I was able to find a tcase for $100 bucks so I picked that one up right away.

It seemed to be a little rough on the outside but I started to get to work in tearing it down to check everything out. i was expeecting to have to change the chaine but luckly I didnt have to. The inside was a gem!! I did make a lot of marks on the tail housing.. i figured that it was ok. Atleast I hope so. But now it is starting to leak after I got it in the jeep.. Im thinking its the output seal.. i did replace with a new one but that my only guess... soo I will be ordering one and replacing that soon as I get feeling better and have time.

Here are some pictures from late last summer. I replaced my tailgate struts, which is awesome to not have to use vise grips anymore to hold that up lol.

Here is a couple pictures from the trip to new york! Jeep did great towing the boat. roughly 10 mpg. On the way home i didnt tow the boat since my brother met up with us. He has a 05 dodge 2500 so it made more sense for him to tow it. I actually made roughly 24 mpg. it was all 70 to 75 mph all close to being down hill highway driving
