Default the "all ready to big" build

so, i recently got my 98 classic totalled out that i dearly loved. it was a great jeep..... i got a new one. its already lifted with 35s on it BUT its not ready for any sore of trails. its basically stock other than 6 inch springs (not sure of brand but they are red), 2 or 3 inch spacers, control arms, track bar, and lower arm relocator from iornman fab (my new xj is pictured on there site). the rear is either stock or a small lifted set of leafs with way to big blocks and a homemade shackle extender. its apparent that the guy was more show than go..

i have big plans for her tho. i bought back my old jeep and plan on using some parts off of it for the new one. (rear bumper, rubicon control arm relcation kit, brakelines, and a few other odds and ends..)

first off, i plan on sticking with the bigger tires but im getting rid of the ones on it now and getting bfg m/t km2 315 75 16s and putting them on moab wheels. they are pretty much 35s too.

im buying a dana 44 from a buddy that has my old 87 amc xj. he had one of the axles come out of it while driving so he swapped an 8.25 in and there it sits waiting for me. its getting 4.10 or 4.56 gears, chrome axles and a locker... sticking with the stock 30 but i plan on beefing it up too.

im taking the tranfer case outta the old one and throwing it in the new one. its got the SYE already. the new one still has stock driveshaft. ill adjust the lenth of the driveshafts in the old jeep to fit the new one.

im getting the c rok steering braces and rustys has another brace that runs from one side to the other that looks like it can be used with the c rok stuff..a double shocked stablizer will be in order also. might even get that agr steering upgrade kit (any input on the agr stuff would be great).

the jeep is getting new coils and leafs but im not sure what i wanna do. 5.5, 6.5, or should i do the 7.5? i know im gonna have to do some cutting on the fenders and quarters to make it flex but i dont want it to top heavy. that is my dilema. i know what i wanna do but how high...

this is the old jeep. sorry about the finger. its not for you. lol

heres the new one i got. the project...

i up for ideas on the how big of lift is needed to clear those 35s. if you got some 35s on your xj, post some pics and let me know how you like your setup.

thanks for looking

Thanks krkx93! Haha, yeah, those are a couple of coconuts swinging out back. I got the jeep from miami and I guess those rubber nuts are illegal in flordia so the guy threw these on. Big nuts! Lol.

As for the wheels and tires, I am planning on getting rid of them along with the ones on the red jeep. I will have all sorts of stuff up for grabs once the snow melts up here and I can start swapping and pulling stuff apart. The red one is stuck outside in a snowdrift.

the new jeep looks sexy!!! That d44 will look awesome under there. I would go with 5.5" springs, but thats if you dont mind cutting up your fenders a little bit.

P.S. Your jeep looks like it should be in a lift kit ad or something.

thanks for the compliments guys! its a pretty solid rig other than the the stock driveshaft in it. that scares the crap outta me every time i take off from a dead stop. i baby it cuz i think the input shaft is gonna strip out cuz there cant be much of the shaft still in the transfer case and its a 231..... no interstate driving till thats fixed. but i cant mess with my driveshaft length until i figure out the specs im going with as far as putting a different lift on it. the lift will be my first purchase when i figure that out. then ill go from there.

as far as the price goes, its a 99 sport and has a low 85,xxx miles on it now (i drove it from miami to iowa... white knuckled the whole way). the lift has only been on it for about 6 months but the dude drove about 40 miles round trip to work in it and couldnt take it anymore and put it up for sale. its a handful on the interstate i must say but im gonna change that. i gave 6500 for it but i must say, when i got home after wrecking my red one i started searching the net for the ONE and it took over a month for find the one that was priced right with lower miles.... plus, you cant buy one from around this neck of the woods because the evil rust demon lurcks in these parts. lol

i did think i found the one, rented a car and drove down to georgia just to find out the whole rear end of it had been repainted at some point. so i turned the dude down called the car rental place and told them im bringing the car back cuz i was just gonna drop it off at one of there places down there. lol

things will start to change on my rig soon and ill be posting pics of all the fun i know im gonna be having. i still wanna see some lifted xjs with 35s... more lift ideas?

thanks!

yeah, i like how it is now but im not a fan of all the blocks going on under it. the ride sucks and i know it wont be tearing up any trails the way it sits. dont get me wrong, it will be far and few when it gets dirty but i wanna be confident when i find myself in that situation....
