my tailgate is in such rough shape I didn't even think about not screwing it in. At some point I'm going to replace it, or just forget about it.

I'm glad that you're still following it. I have a lot of time to work on it, I'm not commuting to and from work, so I can wake up, do some work, Then do my job, then I can just step out my office door into the garage and do more work. The hardest part for me has been getting parts. Right now I'm waiting on some parts for my horn, since it's broken. Not a hard job, but waiting a week to get parts to show up.

and my stinking Lift kit... Where is my dang lift kit? and seats... they should take 10 minutes to install, but only once I get them.

If you have somebody who can vacuum it down and charge it for you, that will help you immensely. Make sure that you replace as much, if not all, of the system. If you are not going to replace the evaporator, try to flush it first to remove any residue of R12. Make sure all of the A/C lines, condenser, compressor, and receiver dryer. Replacing everything now while it's apart is cheaper than having to do it again.

That's nice that you can work on it at any point throughout the day. Hopefully the rest of your parts will show up soon.

Time to reach out about the lift kit.

Well I'm at a total loss... My XJ is undriveable due to the collapsed suspension. the body is sitting on the rear tires, the shocks might as well not exist. I thought my RE lift kit was going to show up soon, because the date hadn't changed in a few days, though maybe I had an actual delivery date. but then this morning it got pushed to middle of december. Talked to them, and they said they really have no idea, and can guarantee nothing. So I called around locally, and nobody has anything in stock... I may start piece mealing stuff together, but that will cost way more. but at least I'll get somewhere then.... maybe.

So ordered. I was trying to avoid rough country, it doesn't have the best reputation for ride quality, BUT when you don't have options, you don't have options. It will at least get me on the road for now.

Started taking my suspension apart in preparation for parts coming Monday, and I cannot get this to come out any further!

Any tips?

Bolt seized in the sleeve?
Did you try some tightening and untightening to see if it will free up?
Did you try using a pickle fork for some leverage?
Just cut the bolt between the bracket and the bushing and it will most likely just drop out maybe?
Maybe the leaf dropped just enough and it is binding.
Put a jack under the leaf to push it up just a hair maybe?

Well by your picture the bolt looks way to far out for you to have busted the tack welded nut loose on the other side and is keeping you from pulling it out.
But never actually having done a suspension on an XJ I am just guessing here.
I do read a lot about it though. LOL.

Something else just popped into my head.
Any chance the sleeve is turning in the bushing with the bolt?
Indicating it is actually seized in there.

Yay! it was just the bolt being stuck in the eyelet! with some proper morning light I could see the bolt was just spinning the sleeve in the eyelet, and that the back end I could see no threats beyond it into the body of the vehicle. so I got out my grinder and cut off the bolt on the inside of the box, and then used a pry bar to work it out. It took me 30 minutes, only because my grinder couldn't fit up there and cut the bolt entirely through so I had to cut, spin, cut, spin, and then work it out.
