I've done all crusier's tips when I bought my XJ over two years ago now. This is directly related to the "new" engine that they put in. they kept my brand new sensors, and gave me a bunch of old ones. I just cannot bring myself to go through the whole process of testing and replacing them. I just cannot. And now that its 110*+ till the end of September, I'm just not even going to worry about it.

Could be something they missed, overlooked, or broke.

Was them getting your old engine part of the deal?

I am pretty sure I have a leaking intake/exhaust gasket, maybe a bad o2 sensor... but it was supposed to be rebuilt, but all the gaskets are old and leaking, and I spent a bunch of time and money replacing all the gaskets.

Yes they kept my old engine, as it was super low on compression, with a bad head gasket and warped head. It wasn't worth a whole lot. BUT they were supposed to transfer over my new sensors, which it looks like they did a couple, but not all, and I fought with them for over a month over it.

I just have given up at this point. Lost the passion and desire. But because it doesn't run right, my jeep is worth almost nothing (I couldn't get $1000 for it), I could part it out, but That would just be time I don't want to put into it. Every time I look at it I just want to cry/scream/burn it to the ground.

Going to start to tackle the intake/exhaust gasket starting this week (its still 112* outside and 40% humidity, so it will be just in short bursts since my XJ is outside).

List of things I want to get done over the next little bit:

1) Fix vacuum leak (intake/exhaust gasket)
2) fix where the front drive shaft hits the exhaust
3) adjust the tb sensor, and the sensor for the transmission
4) replace oil pan gasket/rear main seal
5) Replace the valve cover gasket
6) Get oil pan gasket replaced (PO broke two bolts, so I'll let somebody else fix it for me...)


I will be checking on how its running after each repair to see if there is enough improvement in how it behaves (especially after the intake gasket replacement) to see if it is worth keeping.

I should probably replace my fuel injectors, but so many options... any suggestions on where to buy them?

So got the intake/exhaust off, and the gasket was totally destroyed, but so is the exhaust, full of cracks.

I got fuel injectors off eBay, 6 for ~$80 and lifetime warranty.

From what I can tell that O2 sensor is a universal type? Or maybe the older Cherokees are a different plug. It's worth the couple bucks more for the OEM style plug. I've heard that the universal type usually don't work as well/at all/burn up really quick.

Still thinking about that roll cage? Also don't forget you have to test fit then pay for powdercoating or painting.

that three prong is the style that my cherokee has. I'm pretty sure. I haven't bought anything yet, I don't have the $$ for it yet. I spent what I had on the new fuel injectors.

Yeah, I'm still thinking about that roll cage. I'm not doing anything super crazy, but I do want some added safety, and I think that roll cage will work just fine.

Other than the stupid heat, yeah, I'm really looking forward to actually driving my jeep again.

got my exhaust manifold off, cleaned it up with a wire wheel, and.... its not just cracked its shattered. soooo.... not going to try to weld it, just replace... Oh well...

Oh, and I got dripped on by the front diff, so have to re seal that as well... Lame.
