I'm not sure I will definitely have to look tomorrow when the sun is out. I will end up putting an SYE in because I'm one that would rather do it right first then have to do it multiple times.

Other than the lift, what are your plans to make it an expedition rig? By the way, I got that USA permit too.

Haha I love the zombie permits they are awesome!!!
In terms of expedition rig, I'm going to install a roof rack on the top as well as bedline the roof and lower quarters.
Front winch bumper, not sure by who yet, leaning towards rigidco w/ the dboffroad brush guard.
Either a 8-10k smittybilt synthetic winch.
Dirtbound rear tire carrier bumper, maybe cut and fold haven't decided yet.
Lockers front and rear
On-board Air
Serious offroad long arms upgrade.
Moving to 33 or 35s
On the roof for trail days Im going to run 2 Jerry cans for gas, and a Jerry can for water. Jack, shovel
In the rear I'm going to build a roll out drawer that has access from the inside of the rig.
Also in the back there will be storage for other items as well ranging from my EMT kit, food, water, bug out/in bag/get home bag, possibly extra firearm + ammo, some extra parts for the jeep, I will make a video and take pictures once I get it setup completely this spring
In the cockpit of the rig for communication I'm gonna be running a CB radio and a HAM radio probably 2m or a dual band.
For navigation I'm getting a refurbished iPad that has the GPS chip and cell service so i can use it even if there is no cell reception, and have it mounted to the side of the dash angle towards the driver. Have topo maps installed on it and preloaded with maps before I leave just incase no cell reception to geocache with.
Covering the inside of the rear, we small rear windows with 3M security tape so someone couldn't break out a window to steal stuff.
Outside of that not sure what else I will do if you have any ideas let me know.

Also I am looking at sourcing a small box trailer to take for when I got camping and have it fitted with larger wheels and other things that I will need that can't fit in the XJ

Haha thanks man, yea kinda long and extensive but I think it's doable. Now if only I had all the money I needed to start ordering parts today lol.

Cool ideas. Can you clarify what you mean about the windows and 3M?

If do any fishing, I recommend the fishing pole holders in my build.

Also recommend the tactical flashlight mount mod next to the shifter. And/or flashlight/ fire extinguishers with mount.

The fishing stuff would go in the trailer. I totally forgot about the flashlight ad fire extinguisher mount! Those will definitely be put in. The 3M security film is this

You can order it straight from 3M's website. However I'm trying to source it from a local dealer because there's the automotive tinted glass then home window. My rear windows are already tinted and want to get them tinted darker then apply the film. When I source it I will get the product number.

ccooper1234 01-18-2013 10:17 AM

Do you know how much it costs?

brianrich07 01-18-2013 10:22 AM

Llumar makes a version of it and you can get it off amazon for 31 bucks for a roll 30"x1 yard

Good to know I will definitely look into that as an option as well.

So picked up some Plasti dip to do my rockers and rear quarter panel. So when it's 50s In a week or two I'm gonna get that done.
Also have some extra scratch so I'm gonna get my CB set up finally installed, maybe sliders, and new bilstein shocks or winch bumper still deciding. Stay posted.

My Auxiliary fan was making a hell of a racket so I went to napa and picked up a factory replacement that has a lifetime warranty on it.

This is the old one

Attachment 188727

It has the two bolts up top and two "tongues" that sit inside two grooves. When I unscrewed the two bolts up top, I unhooked the line running from the radiator full neck to the coolant reservoir so I didn't cut it or break in during the replacement of the fan.

Comparing the two fans, old on top new on bottom.

Attachment 188728

I'm gonna say this now, whoever's Brite idea it was to put a bolt in the center of the fan that sticks out further than the fan is a dbag. Lol. I had to force it into place, hoping I didn't break it.

Below is the bolt I'm referencing

Attachment 188730

New fan in place and runs like a top.

I also cleaned out my K&N come filter and cleaned up the throttle body and IAC cause the she was running a little rough. I also put in some techcron fuel treatment

One dirty air filter

So far after all this she runs really well no more sputtering while sitting at idle after reaching temp.

The Jeep did great, some good sized ruts, and some standing water all over, and a couple decent sized hill climbs.
Had a really bad rattle from my exhaust and the next morning looked under the Jeep and saw that the back half of the tailpipe broke off and was resting on the axle. I cut the back rubber hanger, problem solved.

Attachment 209913

I went to pop the hood to check the engine area and the damn hood release broke off in my hand.

Attachment 209914

So had to go to Autozone yesterday and pick up a new hood release cable $46. I followed the write up in the tech section. A couple beers later and an hour of my time it was all done and hood opens great now. I soaked all the latches in WD40 to help make it easier to open the hood.

Attachment 209916

^ you have to cut the plastic off around the metal cable to get to it and get a set of grips on it to pop the hood.

Attachment 209917

Old cable. ^

Attachment 209918

^ new cable installed and working.

I also need to do the front brakes, I'm planning on doing a big brake upgrade to the front next year so until then I ordered these from rockauto.
