Hey guys, This is my second Jeep. Last Jeep I owned was an 89 XJ in high school and a used state vehicle that I used and abused. This one will be different, its my DD and project vehicle. This is going to be a somewhat slow build. I have a 2yr old son, work full time at a local ER and also go to nursing school full time so busy and money is tight. Ideally I want to turn this into an Expeditionary style XJ, and have it done the right way first so I don't have to go back and fix stuff later.
As she rides now:

Starting out with some maintenance tasks first on the to-do-list:
Change Oil w/ Synthetic
New spare tire and rim
change diff/trans/t-case fluid
Optima Yellow top battery
Heavy Duty Alternator
Radiator, hoses, fluid, thermostat, thermostat housing
New throttle body and throttle body spacer kit

Thats just to start off the to-do-list for the next month or two. I wanna make sure she's running top notch well before winter gets here. Other things down the road are:
Winch, winch bumper, rear bumper, re-gearing and lockers front/rear (ARB), ARB compressor, roof rack, LED lights, RE 7.5 LA lift (some time at the end of the year or beginning of next year)
Any and all advice from fellow jeepers is definitely encouraged, I want to get the best stuff possible.

not sure but i think the throttle body and definitly the spacer are a waste of money if youre doing it to achive more power. and in my opinion the yellow tops are way overrated i only got like 4 years out of mine, any agm battery would be suitable. or you could just go with a standard battery and add an additional marine deep cycle for the aux. loads and probably still come out cheaper than a yellow top oh and very nice truck

The throttle body and spacer are more for a slight increase in mpg and also because the current throttle body is looking really sad of late.
I have looked into the dual battery setup and it's something I definitely would love to do down the road.

The bored tb is a good upgrade...id use the spacer for a paper weight

So you guys haven't really noticed any increase in mpg or slight power increase I take it with the TB spacer? Which bored out TB would you recommend? 68mm TB I'm assuming.

I would rather buy a well manitained high mileage than a poor maintained low mileage. Good find.

Forget about the TB spacer. You won't see any increase in MPGs with it. And with a bored TB, I don't think you'll see an increase in MPGs either. If anything, it'd be a decrease with the increased amount of air it will be taking in.

Thanks man. I can't take all the credit though the guy I bought it from owns a jeep shop here locally and the XJ was never really wheeled hard.

I figured start replacing things that I know will eventually go bad with better equipment. Definitely will look into the battery cables.
I have a page and a half long list of things I want to do to get this XJ where I want it because I plan on keeping it for a long long time. Thanks man. It has it's dings and dents and the leather seats are ripped in places but looks great driving that's for sure.

Hey everyone need some opinions on the Disc Brake conversion on my Dana 44. I have read some reviews of people using the grand Cherokee disc brakes off a donor axle which can be done on the cheap. Also I have looked at a couple websites for disc brake conversions and found some top notch kits. Obviously what I want out of this is to have reliable stopping power and something I'm not gonna have to keep fixing.
