It's all bondo. And a ****ty one at that. So I start chipping away to see what I can salvage from the door... Needless to say this is where I am

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-1511956449.jpg

So now I have to get a new door cuz this door is toast. Word to the wise. Check stuff for body work before purchase or else you could end up like me.

Now my jeep is looking like a ghetto mess until I can did a door.

Hope you all had a better day than me. See you later

We have something called Pic-a-Part here and that is where I picked up a replacement door for mine pretty cheap. You can then mod it for easy removal. You probably have electric stuff. The only thing on mine were speaker wires and I just cut them because the local thieves had already made off with my radio and I end up listening to my iPhone with a headset instead.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have any junkyards or pick-a-parts in my neck of the woods. I'm just gonna stalk CL for a part out or something. I also want to get rid of the power doors so I can take the doors off in the summer without all the plugs and ****.

Bad day.
I failed my road test, and I know why. I took it in a Buick. What a mistake. Catherine will accompany me in two weeks blagh.

Attempted to take off and clean my NSS and as many other before me have discovered it is frozen on the shaft. I squirted it with Freeze-off and PB, tapped on it, sanded down the shaft, tried to break the cast with a drift to no avail. Eventually I got impatient and started prying on it and broke it off. I already ordered a new one (300 bucks later&#128530 it will be here Friday. But part of the NSS is still on the shaft. Should I try heat? Cut it off? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hello all. I finally got my license so watch out.

Anyways, while driving today I turned my running lights on and my brake lights come on and stay on and the brightness does not change when I put the brakes on. Same goes for headlights and high beams. Also when I turn off all lights and I push the brake the clock on the radio and the mileage dim and the dash lights come on. I recently replaced my NSS. With a Chinese one off eBay. I'm thinking that is the problem. I do have reverse lights. I understand that you can adjust the switch but I'm not sure how. All fuses are good and everything is running and working well as far as I can tell. Help would be much appreciated

Okay.....
I still have all the problems mentioned in previous post(s) and have slowly been eliminating certain sources of theses issues

So my front left headlight was out so I replaced it. This didn't help anything as far as I could tell, but it can't hurt things either.

I also re checked all my fuses just for ha's and when I got to the IOD fuse I noticed it was a 20a fuse. This didn't sit okay with me because I had read in numerous places that it would be a 10a. Switched it out, didn't blow, but this is where I started to see changes:

1. When I turn on the running lights ( key on and off) the front will come on as normal, and surprisingly so do the rear!!!! Aha I fixed it. Nope.... Catherine wouldn't let me off that easy. When I push the brakes the brake lights come on and stay on........ Ugh

2. When I turn the headlights on the brake lights come on (and stay on) automatically so that wasn't even close

3. With all lights on, when I push the brakes the radio and odometer still dim but no 'night time' interior lights come on as they had before

4. When headlights and running lights are on 'night time' lights are also no where I be found.

I have concluded that the dimming is Catherine telling me that something is wrong (similar I how some cars blinkers speed up when a bulb or something is out) logical? Maybe not but I need some peace of mind.

Next step for me is to replace headlights switch, then the brake light switch and maybe turn signal switch.

Is there anyway to test these?????

Thanks for all your guys help.

It's gonna warm up later this week so I can take care of the body work ( oh right.... That giant hole in the) pics will come

Hello everybody lots of smallish updates

So my wierd electrical issues magically fixed themselves about a week back and I have had no problems since. Idk if that's a blessing or a curse.... Maybe something else is very wrong

I also replaced my drivers side headlight

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-3291631761.jpg

I rolled 174600

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-1839692731.jpg

Big stuff.....

Lol

I also did some shoddy body work on the door. Custom sheet metal pop-riveted into what was left of the door. It ain't pretty but it does the job. Come spring time I'll paint it with any color and put the trim piece back in and I'll keep my eyes peeled for a green door.

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-640663860.jpg

Also I was up at my uncles property and we were working on his 33 Chevy coupe (it used to belogn to my grandfather when he was a teenager, then he gave it to my uncle when he was 14) and while I was up there I grabbed some cool accessories for the jeep. You guys will see when I get them installed.

I also got a CB from my grandpa, and I love this thing. My best buddy got one about a week ago and it makes caravan ing around so much easier (he drives a 1990 bonneville, we are quite the pair)

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-3328540136.jpg

And this past weekend the same buddy and I decided to mess around a but with my shifter handle and came up with this. A little ghetto but it works an it makes me feel like I'm driving stick. (I long for a 5sp xj)

And that's about it for now I guess talk to you Guys later

Hello all

It was beautiful in CT today, 50 degrees and sunny.... It's not gonna last long though because snow is coming Tuesday damn!!

Anyways because of the wearer I decided to start my doorless adventure (mom is not a fan at all Muahahahahaha). Thanks to sharpies thread on late model Cherokees hinges it was a simple mod (hardest part was disconnecting the plug in the kick panel lol)

Welds are a tad boogery, But they will hold and the light grey pain is self etching primer to stop rusting. The drop in doors are awesome and I will me making half doors over the summer. Maybe make plexiglass/vinyl windows that pop in and out as I please.

And I finally discovered why I put that ridiculous toolbox on my bumper....

DIXIE HORNS

And my electrical gremlins have not returned so I think Catherine is gonna be fine.

That's about it for now. I will keep you guys updated. Keep modding!

Yoooo

Everything has been Awesome with Catherine lately. Running like a top, I rolled 175000

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-284627195.jpg

And then I went to go get my brothers piece of crap from our families shop.

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-1703227811.jpg

Which is a mid 80's k3500 with a rebuilt 454 and tranny. It would be so much nicer if it had floors... Anyways.... In order to get the truck onto the tilt trailer I decided to push it with the jeep. Which resulted in this

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-2133893820.jpg

No big deal, and the horn still works

Never the less Catherine pushed it with ease, but my brother decided to drive the front right tire of his truck off of the trailer, which resulted in a flat and the knuckle of the axle to be hung up on the trailer, oh an the plow frame to bury itself through the deck boards....

The truck was stuck... Very stuck and little ol Catherine could yank her off. So my dad got in his dump truck, which was hooked to the trailer, and I sat in the jeep in neutral with my foot on the brake. However I trusted my brother to hook up the chain to the jeep. Mistake.

He wrapped the chain around the passenger side of the bumper... Only...

A few pulls from my da the bumper held, until he got a little throttle happy and ripped the bumper right out of the frame

Granted it was some knock off bumper that the PO bolted on... With 5 bolts total... Bed needless to say I was pissed

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-2611832137.jpg

So in order to remedy this I welded a backing plate to the front two bolt holes and extended the frame tie ins on the bumper. It's not a good tow point, so I think I will adapt a trailer hitch to the front somehow, but for now I got a bumper back on

Oh and I figured since it was off already I might as well fix the PO's mistake so this is how she sits tonight

98 Classic-Her name is Catherine--image-2422271076.jpg

And that's all for now. Hope the story brought a smile to your faces.

Hello,

This will be the final post of this thread.

On Monday July 14th 2014 I hydroplanes Catherine across the road and into a HART bus. No one was injured but the jeep is toast. I'm still waiting to her from the insurance company of what is going to happen.

She was loved and will be missed.

RIP Catherine
