Thats a ton of work but its comin out nice. Looking forward to seeing assembly. Are you just painting the rear end or using something heavier like a POR product?

I already bought a couple rattle can flat black. What is this POR?

Looks good man. That is gonna be so sick once you have those axles in. It's nice to have a shop to work in this weather haw. Couple things:

-That mangled track bar mounting point- I have heard of people re-drilling the track bar hole closer in to save them from having to buy a new hd track bar so that might be what happened there.

-If you don't want those drop brackets I'll buy em off you cuz I need some of those.

-Once you reinstall the front axle let me know if you have any tips to make it easier. This weekend, I am installing some drop brackets and it might be a pain to get those control arms in place.

-We gotta go test out all our new crap on some trails one of these days.:thumbup1:

- I doubt my PO did that to the track bar. He was an idiot. And from Texas

-Im gonna keep these in case i need them later. For getting the front axle in place i went ahead and took off all the sway bar components to make everything less clammered.

- To get the 30 angled up to get the upper arms installed i used a pipe wrench to tweak it up. Putting the handle on a floor jack and jacking it up making the handle go upwards and agling up the axle. Worked well.

UPDATE: Jeep is running. No pictures of rear axle install cause I'm an idiot and forgot my camera.

- Steering installed and 30 all set in nice

- Out with the old brake fluid

- Coat of flat black on the new 8.25

- Didnt need to reset the spring perches

- New shoes for the 8.25

- Bled brakes and new fluid put in

- Upped confidence because I'm not driving my grandpa's car anymore

So after I finally got my ride back from swapping axles i had a crazy hesitation problem in the throttle. Checked everything from TPS sensors to a clogged exhaust. Ended up a MAP sensor. I think...

Anyways here are the final stages of axle swap.

8.25 diff cover off and wired wheeled for flat black

Front axle in place. Did this without coil compressors.

Lowers in first though

8.25 with a new coat of black

Then gave Yeep a good wash although this picture doesnt really show it

A local from the springs. I had to. Way too many problems with the stock steering and these aggressive mud terrains.

Excited to graduate dude?

4.56s with 33s is good for me. Solid in all positions, especially highway. I would use 4.10s for 32's probably. 33s are just barely okay for 4.56.

Yea man I can't wait. I'm a little nervous about passing my astro-physics class, but god willing, I will graduate in May and be done with this school thing. I am planning on going to Moab, Hawaii and Australia right after graduation too so that should be pretty sweet.

We gotta chill some time man before I am done with school. Maybe go wheeling the 23rd of this month or the weekend after that. Is your jeep working/fully assembled?

DAMN dude, the air force hooks you up. Pretty sweet vacation spots. You gonna wheel the xj in moab? I will pray that you pass astro physics. I started normal (nondenominational) physics last year and i decided that id rather gargle bleach.

I totally would, thats the weekend of prom though. Im obligated to go man, Im sorry. And the yeepy is at a locals house getting the steering worked on right now. After that i think it'll stay reasonably hassle free and trail worthy.

gvns8 04-11-2011 12:32 AM

Thanks man I definitely need all the prayer I can get to pass that class. And yea Hopefully my jeep survives Moab cuz I will be driving it to California after wheeling about 4 days there. I am trying to get it all ready to go by finishing up some last things. I just put on some longer brake lines and a few other items. Now I just need some adjustable upper control arms, and maybe longer shocks and new steering-which is why I am really interested to see what you are doing steering-wise. Is the local guy FrankZ or someone else? what are you going with otk, wj swap, high steer :)...? or just regular utk?

And as far as wheeling- I will probably be going on the 30th or the 7th...just let me know man I am trying to enjoy the Colorado trails as much as I can before I move out to Texas where there are nothing but hills and mud.
