Head is off and here are some pictures. Hardest part was the bottom of the intake bolts and the rear stud for the ground strap.
Head Gasket - Yes there was oil on top of it
Bottom of cylinder - Doesn't look like coolant was being burnt off as all the valves are black.
Cylinder #2 - There are 1 or 2 more like this but nothing catches a finger nail. I'm thinking as long as its not warped put a new head gasket on it and send it. Someone has been in here before as #3 has a different piston.

So cleaned up things and did some measurements.
Head is over .007 for warpage between chambers (FSM says .008 for total length max)
Block is just at .004 (FSM says .ax of 0.005 per 152mm)
So I'm not concerned to much of the block but I will definitely be looking to get the head resurfaced if the price is resonable as I would like to take .002 or maybe .003 just to get it under spec.
Then again maybe I shouldn't worry? With a gasket and proper torque maybe it would seal?
Thoughts?

I don't know about your location but down in Southern California I took my '69 Mustang 302 head in to be resurfaced, etc after blow head gasket and it ran me $100 with all new guide valves and seals, etc. That was like 10 years ago lol but still worth a shot for peace of mind if you find a reputable shop and for good price.

I agree and understand! Though a wise man said once to do it right the first time!
You might be able to get away with just slapping a gasket back on it and go drive it. I don't know much about that and hopefully someoen can chime in who knows better.

That's not bad price but I again understand your bank account limits. Are you going to just clean it up yourself and slap on new gasket then? You might be okay I think just a gamble worth trying worse case it over heats doesn't get proper seat on gasket and then your back to square one assuming you didn't cause any major damage then your only out cost of gasket and your free time . Otherwise you could be good with the way it is forever!

Head will be picked up tomorrow but for now order from Rock Auto has been placed and thanks to Visa gift cards and a Rock Auto gift certificate the cost wasn't that bad.
