Yeah it's not that bad to do. I dropped mine with 1/4 of a tank to replace a bad fuel pump. It took about two hours to do the whole job so no big deal for one person with a small floor jack. There's only two bolts that hold it up there. They're on the back end of the tank near the axle. It's kinda clamped in almost with those two strap looking things lol Should be a good job done.

Uh oh. If the only thing holding it up it 2 bolts and those straps, then I'm screwed. My straps are almost rusted through. I guess I'll need some new ones which means I'm going to the junkyard. I want to find a receiver anyway along with some 4 cylinders axles out of a 97' or newer with 4.10s and an 8.25 rear. Maybe I could make my way down there this weekend.

Not much of an update, but here's the latest news. When I first got my XJ, I got 11.8 MPG driving it like I stole it (and bogging 5th to try and save some gas while cruising) and 12.2 driving it casually. After swapping injectors for Ford style injectors, I got 13.2 MPG driving like I stole it. My buddy said that he heard driving at your peak RPM gets the best mileage, so I tried it. I drove casually not ripping through the gears more than once a day and kept it around 1500 RPM while cruising. I just filled up and calculated 14.97 MPG, which is better than what I've been getting. This tank I'm going to keep the RPMs low at 1000-1200 like when I used to bog it all the time to see if the peak RPM myth is what gave me the mileage or that I just wans't taking it up to 4000 RPM all the time and shifting around 2200 RPM instead. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Tomorrow I should be repairing the rust in the cargo area, so I'll post pictures if I have time.

Yes, it's definitely warmer inside, but I learned to deal with it after a week. The trans tunnel gets very hot because of where the exhaust is routed. I think when I swap out my manifold, I'm gonna heat wrap the exhaust piping around the trans tunnel so my legs don't light on fire in the summer. The passenger side and back area aren't bad, though. Only the drivers side

Well, I still haven't found a day to fix my cargo area rust between the work schedule and crappy weather. But, I did add some high performance items to my Jeep over the past week. First, I got some more stickers for the hatch.
Then, I got a sweet windshield sticker (sorry about the glare)
After that, I got fed up with my shift **** that was the wrong thread size that only went on half an inch. That was the replacement for my stock **** that flew off when I banged second gear doing a burnout. This is my remedy...
I also ordered waterproof speakers for my front doors by Pyle. They were only $15 shipped, so hopefully they don't turn out to be a Pyle O Crap. Here's the link if anyone else is interested in listening to music while using your Jeep as a submarine http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=502229 . They probably won't sound great, but my stock ones are destroyed, so I don't care that much. I'm hoping to finish my cargo area repair by next weekend. That's it for today's updates.
Edit: Don't know why the pics are so damn big even though they've been resized in photobucket. If anybody knows a solution, I'll fix the problem.

Last week I posted my MPG stats after not ripping it up all day and not taking it past 2000 RPM and casually cruising around 1500 RPM. That got me close to 15 MPG. After bogging it a little more around 1000-1200 RPM and only ripping it through the gears maybe once or twice a day, I calculated 15.6 MPG. I'm considering getting a bored TB as my next upgrade, but well see what my paycheck looks like next week. My waterproof speakers were shipped out today so hopefully, they'll be in by the weekend.

Yea, man. I picked it up from the Swap Meet at Raceway Park over in Old Bridge. It was $15 brand new and came with all the adapters and jam nuts so when my 1987 Mustang 5.0 goes on the road, all I have to do is put the new adapter on if I want to use it. There was another older one that said "Jeep", but it was the wrong thread size. It feels like my Jeep is two times faster with the new shift ****

After getting the new shift ****, my conscious practically forced me to race an old beat up Integra from the red light. He was doing his little "performance peddling" start off and that urged me to dump on him...so I did. It was funny, because we both pulled into the same deli down the road and he didn't look to happy.

I finally got around to patching the cargo area rust today. Wasn't fun, but it had to be done. I also cut and folded my driver's side fender since the passenger side was done a few weeks ago and I already had the grinder out. I'll post up some pics tomorrow, but for now it's time to go to bed. Next on the list is the much needed leaf spring replacement.

Here's the pics of yesterday's work. Got lazy on the cargo area and decided it didn't need to look pretty and I just patched the holes that needed attention. I didn't even bother grinding the welds down.
And here's the driver's side fender cut and fold.
Makes my tires look tiny, so 31s are in the near future.
And one more close up.
That's it for now.
