I also replaced the battery. The XJ came with a undersized battery with only 525 CCAs. I went with a Interstate MT-34 w/700 CCAs which fit perfectly. So if anyone is wondering if a form 34 fits, the answer is yes. Unfortunately the MTP-34 is no longer available.

Finally got the winch installed. Went with the Smittybilt X20-8 Comp. Took about an hour to install.
