So yea, random pics! I cant do much to the jeep as I'm in the middle of no where fishing off a crab boat.. 3AM to 12PM Ugh...

So yea, that red XJ the info on it.:
1994
4.0L HO
AX15
Chrysler 8.25 Rear axle
Dana 30 Front axle
31" BFG Allterrains [brand new, but a little weather cracked from sitting]
Ultra ION rims, with fake beadlock.
ProComp 3" lift, with full leafs, tubular LC arms, with polyurethane bushings EVERYWHERE

The Bads:
Body shot.
Alternator Ceased solid with the shaft broken off inside from trying to free it
and 428,000kms...

So, my buddys uncle said $800 I can take it. Story goes is that Billy [my buddy uncle]
Bought it out alberta as a stock 2dr cherokee, had the lift kit, tires, rims, etc put on it out there then drove it home the next day. So, 5800kms later, billy parked the jeep behind the barn, planning to do something with it, but ended up getting a trans am... So the jeep sat where it is in that picture for 2 years. but, it has been started every once in a while, and I'm told it starts with a flick of the key and purrs like a kitten.. So, I do belive I'm going to buy it and strip anything good off of it. Think its worth the $800 for it?

Well, i finally got my lights all wired up today lol, also cleaned out all the crap in the interior. But i did notice one pretty big flaw when i was under the hood today... My radiator is missing a huge amount of fins.. like almost 3/8ths of them... Mabey that explains why my jeep gets hot quickly in slow traffic, climbing mountains, and slow wheeling... So I guess I'll be looking for a new rad soon. Also how hard is it to convert to the open style system instead of the closed? is there a write up on hos to do this?

I'm running 235/75R15's So, about a 29.5" tire. And about the being geared low, I can take off at idle in first in mine, but when it comes to hills it just dies Which especially sucks since where I'm working at now is in the mountains and every hill is steep as hell, theres some i have to use 2nd to get up...

And @ xjcountry1995
Your jeep looks good! I wonder what mind would look like with a 3" and its current tires.. They're brand new so I'd like to use em a bit before changing to something else lol. If things go the way I'm planning I should have the red XJ next weekend :3

My comanche is the same way. How is it with the speedo? Mine seems to be 5-10 miles off.

Mines the same way, its 10km/h slow. So, If I'm doing 70kmh,on the speedo I'm actually doing 80kmh. dunno what It'd be in mph.

And @xjcountry1995

My buddy just recently got a new paint gun and wants a test victim so he said if I buy him the paint he'll paint it nice and pretty for me lol... the old jeep could desperatly use some paint. but first things first, fix the things that need to be fixed then move onto modifying it.

Also ontopic of the jeep, I decided to see what my throttle body looked like and well... it wasnt pretty, So some carb cleaner and a rag later its nice and mostly shiney now! and just doing that alone has seemed to prep the old 4.0 up! I can actually go up hills in 3rd now! I also re-did the wiring for my headlights so its a bit neater. Still need to cut a hole in the dash to mount the switch in. I'm not going to leave it electrical taped to the dash lol

Say if Its going 30mph its doing 40mph according to our speed signs around the schools. And I'm not sure what that is in km/h. Although the speedo does show km/h and mph. Just never payed attention to to km/h

Nothing major to report, besides i got some new stickers, and new wipers.. also cleaned everything to do with my throttle body/air intake system... was good for a bit, but still has that hesitation from idle to rev... bleh... also, the PCV valve i guess, is letting oil into my air box... Would it be ok to replace it with one of those little air vent ones? instead of having the hose?

Well I bought the red jeep today :3 I'm going to go tow it home tomorrow, since the alternator is shot and the starter wont engage. Then its back up north for work, so the lift and stuff wont be getting swapped over for about 2 and a half weeks. but things are moving along now! Next on the list that i may actually order tonight:
snorkel
Roofrack
High-lift jack
and a posi-lok

Well, some good news.. and really bad news...
I got the red jeep home today.

And I also heard it run, and it runs VERY strong...
So, I decided tonight i was going to do a oil change and finally change my drag-link.
Name: IMG_0705_zpsee15c0ba.jpg

Size: 100.8 KB
This is where things went wrong... First off, the tie-rod end, where it goes into the drag-link, was stuck.. so i hit it with a hammer, forgetting to leave the nut on it a bit, and ended up wrecking the threads... So I grinded it off as a temp fix until tomorrow so i could get a new one. Same thing happened with the steering stabilizer.

So, then after I buttoned that all up, I move onto the oil change. So, I take off the oil filter, put the new one on [its a napa gold filter] Then crawl under, take out the drain plug, set it aside and go wipe my hands off.
So, then my mother calls and wants me to pick her up [in her truck not my jeep] , so I did.

After that was done, I go back to the garage and put in the new oil... forgetting that the drain-plug was still out... Fill it up with 5 quarts of 10w30 napa oil non synthetic, then get inside and start it... nothing sounds weird at first so I let it idle for 20 seconds., but then I noticed the oil pressure gauge didnt move.. it was still on 0,So immediatly I shut it off and go see whats up, then i noticed the oil plug on the ground and paniced, rushed under the jeep and shoved it back in, and tightened it.. So then i measured the old oil in my bucked, which turned out to be 7 quarts. So i run to the store in my moms truck, and buy some more 10W30, [Cobra oil since it was the only they had, but I figured since it was the same grade and both were non-synthetic it shouldent hurt...]

So after I thought I had everything right, put in the missing two quarts of oil, and made sure everything was tight I get back in start it again, it runs ok but the oil psi gauge was still on 0, so I rev it up to about 2K, and the gauge twitched a tiny bit, then went back to 0, so I shut it off and triple check everything, which is all ok. I get back in, start it again, and it starts knocking really bad... which i immediatly shut it back off, and checked everything AGAIN, which was all ok, everything was tight, oil was full, so.. I dont know what to do now...

What exactly would be causing this?... Is it something simple? is it something horribly major? I need to know ASAP because this is my DD and I have to leave for work in 2 days! which i need the jeep to drive the 250 miles to... Also, my jeep has 312,000kilometers [193,868 miles] and it was running A-1 up until this point. So, and my other question is. If it IS something major... Will the engine from my red jeep fit in with no problem?

Gold jeep: 1987 cherokee cheif, 4.0L Renix, 5spd, NP231, 312,000kms
Red Jeep: 1996 Cherokee sport, 4.0L High output, 5spd NP231, 303,000kms...
