Hey all,
Finally decided to do a build thread. This will be my fourth jeep and first MJ. Bought it at the end of June. Had been sitting in this guys driveway for 4 months and needed a clutch. 1989 Jeep Comanche 4x4 4.0L D30 Front D35 Rear 32" mall terrains Everything else is pretty much stock and unmolested. Attachment 366910 Attachment 366911 Attachment 366912 Attachment 366913 Attachment 366914 first purchases Attachment 366915 Attachment 366916 Attachment 366917 Shes been sitting in the street awaiting a clutch. had to run out and tape the sunroof shut this morning because we actually got some rain out here in the desert. Damn latch that holds it closed is busted. Hope the one at the junkyard has a good one. Attachment 366918 Attachment 366919 Attachment 366920 |

Pulled the Drive shafts
Attachment 366890 Gonna take the transfer case off tonight, but after that I'm waiting on parts to go any further. Cant have my trans laying in the street under my truck. Parking Authority loves my area. Cleaned up the interior. The PO was a total PIG. There is some sort of oil/dirt/grease/booger/caca mess allover the steering wheel and door panels, so I cleaned that crap off. Gonna vacuum and clean the carpet tonight. This orange stuff works amazing. That and Mr. clean erasers make short work of it. Attachment 366891 before Attachment 366892 after Attachment 366893 |
Nice MJ find. What are your plans?
|
Hey man, Thanks, I still cant believe couldnt believe he went that low on price. was originally 1300. Of course I'm not sure what he did with it. Previous owner claimed paint job and engine rebuild are a year old, and it was sitting in his driveway covered for only 3 months. The reason it was sitting is because the slave cylinder blew.
Thinking of running it as is for a while. Cant afford much as far as upgrades. Its got 32s up front and 31s out back.. Got a matching 32 in the garage. just need one more. Maybe a cb radio. pull the bent rear bumper. Tune up. Full width axles powered by a cummins 4bt someday? Haha dreamin |

Oh its only about a 5000-6000$ project. Depending in how much you can get a 4bt for. Seen a few here for sale in vegas, one in a bread truck(4000$) and one pulled, and ready for transplant (2500$) then comes trans and adapters, then stronger axles, guts for those axles, and custom driveshafts. :D Too much for me. May do the 8.8 exploder rear end swap though. I like the idea of disc brakes on all four corners.

Ahh yes.. I do have quite a bit of fun, for someone whos as broke as I am.
Attachment 365098 Jet ski is mine, the powerboat we were towed with belongs to a friend. Also Found a latch kit for the sunroof today on ebay. 30$ isint too bad. Ill keep looking till I get the cash tho. And.. I got conformation that rockauto recieved my return parts, so Im awaiting $ back on my card. Im going to get a slave cylinder locally and reuse the clutch. Talk about budget build. |
Had to move it across the street with a flat tire by myself. Parking authority can suck my dick

Well, I moved the jeep onto somewhat level ground for the first time, and wouldnt ya know, it sits like a prerunner. GOTTA fix this. Need to do more research because this lift is strange. It resembles the ACOS lift system, but is not adjustable, and uses what looks to be a wrangler coil. Very short. stuffing 32s up front. Ill get a picture later. Rear appears to be stock. Its nearly stuffing 31s out back. God knows what was done to this thing
Attachment 364302 Attachment 364303 The CORRECT replacement peugeot slave cylinder should be here monday or tuesday, so I'll have a ton of pics up. Gonna scrub the clutch and pressure plate and reuse it. Not wasting a dime on this POS trans. |
Finally..

Gonna keep the peugeot for now, I dont have the money or else I would. my second XJ(red) had the ax15. Felt a lot stronger than this thing. just going thru the shift pattern anyways.. That thing looks pretty good for a back40 jeep. Hows the body?

Its alive!!!!
slipped the trans into first gear with a screwdriver because I took out the gear selector in first and It wouldnt fit.. Adjusted the transfercase linkage, bled the clutch some more.. And I took my first drive. Needs a lil more bleeding, but it works great. Need to run my vacuum lines for the 4wd actuation, but shes gonna get a shake down this week! I may have to get a set of xj stock springs. This bull**** wrangler type lift setup isint tall enough for 32s. Rubs like a mother ****er at nearly halfway to lock.
