please tell me you are going to swap the 4 headlight header panel onto the '89! if not you should sell it to me lol

build looks great.....can't wait to see where this goes
I'm not going to swap it but it's got several breaks in it and the passenger bezel section is totally busted.

A little update on what's been happening with the build....

I've flushed the '89 cooling system of a unbelievable amount of crud and it no longer tries to run hot. I've pulled the rotors from the 88 and they're waiting to be swapped into the 89. Started removing the lift from the '88 and '89 and am deciding what to use from each... Here's where I may need some guidance fro you guys!! I have no problem admitting that I'm inexperienced with lifting vehicles So a description and a few pics of what I have to work with from each truck.

The '88 had/has a trailmaster 4inch lift using 4 inch lift coils, sway bar drop brackets, and control arm drop brackets... The trac bar was only relocated.

Control arm drop bracket being removed... It's proved impossible to get the bolt off the lower control arm so I guess I'm going to hit it with a torch to melt the bushing?? Other tips???

Sway bar drop brackets... I don't "think" I need these if I go with quick disco's do I???? That's the plan anyway unless some of you guys tell me otherwise

Other than that I have the shocks and coils... Shocks have already been installed on one side of the '89.... Here's a quick shot of a 2 inch lift coil from the '89 and the 4inch coil I'll be using from the '88

Now the '89 had 2inch coils with a 1 inch spacer and new beefy greaseable lower control arms.

Lower control arm... Was a Dick Cepek Lift kit so not sure if it's their control arms or what??

How the 89 is sitting now... Waiting on me to get the drop bracket off the 88 and it put back together.

So my plans: (please correct me if I have any of this wrong)
I'm shooting for 5 inches of lift on the 89 using the 1inch spacer and the 4 inch coils, with the 4 inch lift kits trailmaster shocks, installing the control arm drop brackets using the beefier lca from the Cepek kit, getting an adjustable trac bar and quick disco's for now with adj, upper and lower control arms later on. Plan on a 1inch TC drop and using the custom lengthened and balanced rear driveshaft from the 88 (did I mention it had that?) For the rear lift I'm planning the Dakota bastard pack as I heard they flex really well with a shackle (length to be determined) to level out the front and back.

Does that sound about right??? Anything I'm missing or doing wrong please let me know before I get too far into it Thanks Guys!! -Chris

Been doing lots of little things.... Changed out the drivers seat motor, sanded and sprayed the hood Black today, Got the old upper and lower arms off today as well and the control arm drop bracket mounted on the driver side. I bought some Rubicon Express Superflex adjustable upper and lower CA's Friday and I'm waiting for those to come in so I can continue with the lift..... Unclogged the drains for the sunroof the other day as well. Hmmm what else.... Picked up a new radiator Friday night and am going to change that out tomorrow along with a new WP. Put the carpet and trim back down in front after it finally dried out a few days ago..... I'm sure there's more I've been staying busy I'll try to get some more pics up next weekend after the CA's are installed.
