86 2 door build/restoration
Hello everybody, to start I'm a 20 year old college student with limited funds. I go to school full time and prefer playing rugby over anything in the world. Now that that's out of the way, meet my rough 86 two door, all original. Bought it two weeks back and got her running last night after replacing the battery and some fluids. So far I'm $800 in including the jeep, purchased a slave cylinder and sc hose today along with valve cover gasket, radiator hoses, and some rattle cans. This is the bare minimum and haven't added any of that to the cost yet. She's broken and beaten but the body is pretty darn straight and the pans aren't too bad. On to some pictures
Rust is only on the drivers side! Hey-o!

--Swapped out the battery and radiator hose last night without my spotlights, working in the dark sucks.
--Today I pulled the valve cover and got to work cleaning that and scraping F****** silicone off of the valve and the cover. PO was a tool. Finished that up and threw on a new rubber gasket, then my dad pulled off some tint on accident, so I started on peeling tint and scraping off old nasty glue, dreadful smell by the way! Bought about $50 in cleaners and set to work on the interior way too late, so I finished up the drivers side window and called it a night.

Not much accomplished due to moving, rugby, and injuries. No pictures because my iPhone decided to be ****tier than it already is, the camera crapped out and is super blurry and won't focus. Anyways... Valve finished, transmission removed, inspected, and then reassembled [seems to LOOK o.k.] (lost starter bolts and still haven't adjusted slave cylinder), Rockers and surrounding area wire wheeled/sanded and rattle canned grey rust proof then red rustoleum over that same for corners of the roof.

It's gonna be a nice daily with no lift until I buy an e30 or gti to daily. But long run is 5" of lift and full 4x4 conversion.

UPDATE FROM THE HOSPITAL:
Wound up getting a shank of rusty metal in my eye when I snapped a bolt. Gonna be outta commission for a week or two. Good time to move to the workbench and start designing my sub box and roof rack.
P.S. Cut and fold and fender trimming coming soon to an XJ near me.

Yes sir, I even had some on. But I need to get the goggles that don't have gaps. The metal went between the gap and was about an 8/10 on the pain scale.
