Default 86 2.8L ZAV Build TX

Hey everyone been reading the past few days as I just picked up an 86 Cherokee 4x4 2.8L V6 for 400$ as you could imagine it has its fair share of issues and thats why im here to seek any advice or info to getting this thing running correctly. I am here to learn anything i can as i am new to the jeep world i was a Honda guy for a long time so sorry for any questions i may ask that you all might find dumb lmao...
Anyways a little about the jeep like i said its an 86 Cherokee 4x4 2.8L V6 it had a pretty bad oil leak when i got it i had oil coming from the oil pan valve cover had a crack in it and also i have a leak thats dripping on the front diff and dripping from there i am leaking trans fluid. i changed the trans filter and gasket already as well as the oil pan gasket exhaust gaskets and took care of the exhaust leak they only had 2 bolts holding the headers on at the passenger side now i am only getting the leak that is dripping down the front diff and im still leaking trans fluid i will try and get some pic of the leaks and the jeep up here for you guys asap..

Thanks for any help Name: 20131112_162724_zpsa45956fb.jpg

Cool. Now I see that you have an all original black interior, very nice. Its not very common to find a black interior. I know next to nothing about the 84-86 years, only seen a small handful in junkyards around me. You joining the Zombie Response Jeep Club?

Yeah the seats are in really good shape looking for a new dash board atm mine is kinds sun damaged and none of my instrument lights work as well as my running/tail lights so I'm hunting that down so I can drive at night I got all the parts changed out that I listed yesterday and got the oil leak stopped thank god I'm trying to get everything in order before I jack it up and have fun in it that way I'm not constantly breaking down I think I've done more work to this jeep in the 5 days Ive owned it then its had its whole life lmao it runs great now aside from me needing to replace the valvecovers because one is chipped to all hell and yes I plan on joining the zombie responce team have to get it worthy first now that I don't have a wife I have much more money to put into this thing

Sounds like you got a bad fuse. Start with the radio fuse or other interior fuses.
Do you have a tow package? Sometimes I blow a fuse when I have tow lights hooked up. Or you have a bad headlight switch which stops the instrument lights from working (personal experience also).

Edit: I reread your posts and saw that you already replaced the headlight switch.

Did you turn the dimmer switch to see if the instrument lights are just dimmed off?

$400 for a running 4x4 isn't bad, even with the 2.8... Awesome buy! Looking forward to seeing how this ends up.

Also, love the interior... I've never seen that color/style, it's neat.
Hahaha, f you ever sell the seats, let me know.

Yeah if it was 2wd I wouldnt have bought the thing but the 4wd works and I guess I got some rare seats in this thing and it helps that they are in mint condition I was actually thinking about selling them and getting some newer seats to throw in here but that may be a little down the line more I am going to sell my front bumper and see if I can get some stock replacements for the time being considering I'm going to run a completely different set-up for the front just taking it a step at a time I'm glad I've kept track of all the money I've spent on this it def has potential to be something nice and I'm hoping I can take it there.....oh and I know I'm probably going to have a few haters but I'm going to stick with the 2.8 keeping it original found a rebuild one with 0 miles for 500 $ thinking about snagging that up and doing full bolt ons to get where I'm wating to be I know a lot of you don't understand but I want to keep it original as possible and show everyone that the 2.8 isn't as bad at it seems

Yes I checked the dimmer switch and nothing still going to attempt to track down some fuses and see if any are bad I looked before and could not find one that was blown but ill double check to be sure
