4x4 instalation

Alright so I have a 93 jeep cherokee sport I have lifted it up 4.5 inches and run 31s for now but it's a 2wd I was going to keep it for camping trips etc. but now I want to make it a build and turn it into a 4x4 what would you guys recommend? Should I go with the build or just buy a 4x4 and continue on.

I just did a 4x4 swap into my 99 Two door, fairly straight forward and simple, i just bought a new tranny, i have a AX-15 in mine so i snagged a Ax-15 for 300$ and then a brand new in the box np231 for 140$ threw a SYE on it and after i finished with my engine build threw it all together and put it in, i decided to get boostwerks t case linkage which was a great investment, and for 50ish$ unbeatable. The only thing i havent done is the 4x4 pig tail for the transfer case to make the dash lights work.

Damn that sounds pretty damn easy and simple well with just reading this gives me motivation on continuing on my XJ, I'll just buy everything and once I have it all put it together thanks.

I converted my 96 zj to 4wd. I found a donor jeep that had a blown engine. I took all the parts needed trans/t-case, front diff., driveshafts, shifter, shifter plate. I believe i listed all the parts… Very simple task. Took a total of 12 hours to swap. I replaced all the ball joints, U-Joints, shocks, all rubber components while i was in there. I also reinforced the trans crossmember, because i intended to use this as a rock crawler.
