I got paint brushes from the dollar store and brushed it on, they are only a dollar and you will be going through a couple of them. I then top coated everything with some high gloss rusteoleum. You have to top coat chassis saver.

 

Good to know that the cheapo brushes work. I think the directions say to use a nylon brush which I remember paying a lot more than a dollar for.

 

Headliner and sunvisors are all done. I also soundproofed the roof with kilmat. I did a terry cloth backing and then did a dark/light brown and cream color flannel. I really like how it turned out. Some idiot cut out slots in the rear part of the headliner before so i had to bondo and fix the fiberglass.

 

That looks pretty good with the sound deadening. I did not do full coverage when I did mine.
You really can't be to hard on the previous owner about cutting the headliner.
Pretty sure those were for the factory child seat tethers.
They were three across just about there in some Jeeps.

 

Ahhh maybe i'm the idiot haha. Never had an xj with those in the headliner.

Pulled the seats and the front carpet to put down kilmat and closed cell foam to finish up the sound deadening. With all this rain in Florida i have found i have some water leaks to address before i put the carpet back in.

Got the front seats steam cleaned and the bottom seat brackets painted to stop the rust. Carpet is cleaned and back in. Came out ok, not great but good enough for me. Also did an oil change with rotella, hopefully with this oil pressure i can get at least another 30k out of this motor I’m hoping.

Hood insulation was on the checklist to do. Took about 30 minutes to get on. Here’s the part number if anyone wants to install it for themselves.

 

That's on my list as well, which is unfortunate because 90% of it is in really good shape but the edges have started fraying. Every time I see someone replace them they just look so good though.

 

Best I can tell '00's did not come with them even though it is listed in the parts catalog.
I would like to put one in mine too but I would have to cut it for the '98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 louvers.
And while I am guessing it would not be that big a deal be a shame to cut a brand new hood insulation.

 

I know this is an aftermarket one, but it is very good quality. It is on the thicker side and all the mounting holes line up well. Definitely worth the money.

 

I found an actual Mopar one on Craigslist sometime ago for $50.
Think it was in VA. I contacted the guy about shipping it to me but never heard back.
Appears they are still available though. If you are willing to pay that much. LOL.
