This new has had LED headlights since I got it and I have never noticed this issue before. But after I replaced the ground cables and battery terminal my headlights stay on (very dim) any time the key is on even with the headlight switch off. Doesnt have to be running or anything. Like they are wired to a keyed source. Dont know if I bumped something when replacing the negative cables. Anyone else having this issue.
Thanksgiving was full of family, food and F@#&ing XJ wiring issues.
Every time I tried to start it there was a click and then absolutely no power. Played with the battery cables and would get everything back. Decided to go ahead and swap my power cables. They were junk!!
Didnt want to fight the ground strap in the rear so I just added an additional 4 Gauge motor to firewall ground
Replaced everything with 2 gauge except the ground to block and block to firewall which I ran 4 gauge.
the starter wires were toast.

After:
I replaced the power wire to the PDC and wanted to replace the wire to the alternator but couldn’t get a mega fuse holder. So I’ll tackle that later
I cut the connector at the PDC and cleaned it up before running the new cable.
Here is another shot of the old grounds at the battery before replacing.
And done:
Now it starts on one crank. The windows and door locks are night and day difference. Crazy what some good battery cables will do.
Also got a winch mount from the wife. So I kept the front receiver I was trying to sell and finally got around to mounting the winch that came with the jeep. This will do till I get a winch bumper.
Haven’t routed the battery cables yet. Going to add quick connects so it can be put on the rear receiver also. Good thing the ACOS are coming too because the front needs to come up with the winch mounted. Also still need to upgrade my alternator and replace that battery cable and fuse. Picking up a badlands wireless winch remote tomorrow also.
Nice upgrades.. Those tail lights are a night and day difference back there... I like the idea of the removable winch for a dual duty highway/4wheeling vehicle... The set up you've got looks fantastic..
Thanks!!! Means a lot coming from you! I have been following your build since I joined! BEAUTIFUL!
Here are a few better pictures of the new set up. And it’s storage for now. Needed the garage space.
I know it sits low in the front but I don’t plan on putting it on unless I need to use it.
Quick connects and ACOS should be here Wednesday day. Now how do I get the wife to believe I NEED a 3 link?🤔
These will leave me with enough to front and rear mount the winch and run removable jumper cables.
Take your time when you cut/remove your original upper bump stop holder ... Mine had the welded on holder so it was a cut and grind for me.. Cutting new threads into that upper hole was a tough one you get one shot at getting it right...Do you have a link to the JKS2200 install PDF ? LINK
If you are lucky enough to have bolt on bump stop buckets. FU!
Tho this was actually a pretty basic job. Only had to go to the hardware store 1 time for a 10mm tap. Couldn’t find mine till I got home with the new one of course.
Got it all prepped Saturday night for a quick start Sunday.
Pulled out the old bump stop. This is where I wish I had bolt on buckets. If I had u could have used the buckets and longer bump stops in place of the one with the kit.
This is the hole inside the bucket you will be tapping out to 10mm x 1.5 pitch.
The welded washer is recessed 1-1/16”. Transfered that the the outside to get my cut line.
Then chop it off. Once it is removed, grind it down flush with the washer. Take this time to remove any bumpy welds from the seat for the isolator. I had to use a deemed on the back side because there was a ****ty factory weld back there.
It may not look like it but I used PLENTY anti-seize. I just know it gets EVERYWHERE so I didn’t go to crazy.
Before my front end was about 1/2” lower than the rear. Now it is 1-1/4” higher. Sits just above level with the winch up front.
Needed to adjust the steering wheel after but didn’t feel like climbing under her again. I’ll do that in the next day or so.
