I like it and may add two more vents later, I figured to place these four around the hottest parts of the hood, two by the rad and the other two above the intake and manifold, going to give them a bit of black paint and they should blend in nice and subtle !
As I have a full set of doors that I'm making into 1/2doors so the first step is making it easier/quicker to swap doors, it seems much easier to trim the hinges on the pre 97 and I haven't found a good wright up on 97+ door hinges, I didn't have much to go on so I let the hinges have it and hoped for the best...
First steps, grind off the bottom of the pins and cut the stopper pin close to the bottom
Make two cuts and with a punch or screwdriver and knock off the bottom of the hinge, may take a few careful cuts to get it going
Pop the pins out carefully as the pins bend surprising easy along with the hinges, the metal seems soft
On the body side you're left with
Pins where rounded off at the end then pressed back into the removed hinges
Now they fit back on the jeep retaining the stop pin !
Once the hinges a bolted back on the door they slid onto the body side hinges with no problem
All said and done the door only can slide up and off the body hinge when the door is fully open which is nice and seals perfect, the pins are a bit looser and move around in the hinge a bit more then before!
As a side note I will be beefing up the hinges and welding the pins onto the hinge because I don't trust them just being pressed in, the little bit of extra play will be addressed by some means, haven't put much thought into a fix yet, future post along with dealing with the wiring !

extravagant, just good craftsmanship that makes sense. How did you make the circular plates for your headlight mounts or is that an off the shelf hardware part somewhere? I have a plasma cutter but I haven't had enough practice cutting out precision shapes with it yet.
Who made the hood grilles you had on your wrecked XJ? Is there a reason you didn't use the same on the new one? Keep up the good work!

Thanks bud, the hood vents are made by Genright and unfortunately got bent in the accident and the plates where aftermarket lowering spring isolator plates on a fox mustang I had laying around from years ago, don't remember the make !
Alright the engine bay is about 97% done, temporary battery cables but this is basically the best wire tuck I can muster without really going crazy extending anymore wires!

Looks great, man! I'm glad I subscribed to this dumpster fire in progress. Dare I ask what's holding that rear glass in? And I really wish I had access to TIG right now for aluminum stuff; I've been thinking about buying a new MIG that can accept one of the aluminum spool guns but I've never used one.
