Haha, yeah. I'm about an hour from charlotte where I live. I'm jus't going to NC State for their Engineering Program. I'm going to be a Mechanical Engineer, so this stuff is right down my Alley. I just can't seem to get everybody to be able to view these pictures can I haha...
We should go wheeling sometime when your in the Raleigh Area. I don't know of any places around there to go.

Alright, I've still got a couple things to do to the jeep before school starts.
I need to repaint the rims since their are marks on it from the old balance weights, along with some paint chipping off.
Also... I want to bedline the rocker panels up to the strip where there used to be plastic molding, like several other people on this forum have done. Iv'e been trying to keep this jeep extra clean, so do you guys think bedlining the rockers with duplicolor bedliner spray paint would be worth it? I like the look of it from what I've seen on other jeeps, but I'm a little hesitant to commit to this. What do you guys think? I know once I do it, it's permanent....
Your opinions and or experience would be nice to hear. - Thanks.

Check out my build thread in my sig to see pics of the bed lined rockers. Also, dont use the duplicolor stuff. Get the rustoleum. I used the duplicolor once and within 2 weeks it was chipping off.
Also, I dont know much in the Raleigh area but north of raleigh (wake forest/youngsville area) there are some pretty good trails.

very glad I did. Mine were beat to hell. They had wear from everything from rock rash to nicks in the paint from normal driving and rocks flying from the tires. Even had some road tar stuck on them. I like the look of them painted. I'm also not worried about scratches and chips. I mean, if I do get some, just get another $6 can and touch it up. Much easier than having to deal with actual paint. It'll also help preventing rust. I also decided at the time that I did the rockers that I was also going to get the rustoleum under coat stuff and do everything under the jeep as well(wheel wells, frame rails, bottom side of the floor boards, etc). It all came out very well. Not only does it look better but I know everything under there has some sort of protection as far as rust is concerned.

Good points man. Hopefully I'll make some time to get around to doing that in the not so far future. I actually have a can of the rustoleum undercoating i bought for my jeep, I just need to get around to doing it. As far as rust goes though, there is almost none. Basically just the driveshafts and exhaust system are rusted.
Btw, For my rims I'm thinking about flat black with a couple layers of clear coat to give them some shine. You guys think I should go with the same color I have now or Black? Thanks.

I did my rockers with the spray on bedliner from Walmart. I taped it off, sanded it down, then sprayed it with self etching primer (also from Wally world) and then did a few layers of bedliner.
I like the black rims with your color xj. Looks good together.

Thanks for the compliments and advice! It means a lot.
As far as the wheels go, They are not actually black. They are a metalic charcoal color. Close to black but not actually black. It sounds to me like you guys like the rims the color they already are. So my question is to you guys is, should I just keep them this color and touch them up, or repaint them glossy black?
If you think of some cheaper upgrades that I could use, feel free to let me know. Thanks again.

Mounted a brush guard today. It's actually for a grand cherokee, so I had to do a decent amount of fabricating to mount it, but it's mounted strong. I can post details later if needed. Btw, I used 1/4" steel.

haha, I did the same exact thing with my brushguard! I picked it off an older XJ in the JY for $55. then just used 1/4' steel to mount to the frame. I wish I had the headlight bars though. I've only got the middle push bar, which still does the job, but just looks kinda outta place I think.
