Cleaned up the rear crossmember, and replaced the transmission mount.

Jeep radiator side tank developed a crack, replaced the radiator, did a block flush 3 times with distilled water. Refilled with fresh coolant.

Old radiator had a date code of 2015 on it.

Absolutely love your attention to detail on this! Howcome you got rid of the grand Cherokee steering wheel? Is it the same size as OEM? The new wheel does look nice though.

It's the same size as OEM, but I wanted to bring the XJ back to stock. I still have the Grand Cherokee wheel sitting on the shelf.

So, I got really tired of the 4+ year old aftermarket new door seal, the only supplier is Fairchild.

The aftermarket seal is way too firm, you have to slam the jeep door close to latch it. After 4+ years I'd say its never going to seat in.

Problem: OEM seals are NLA by jeep.

I purchased a 24+ year old USED OEM jeep door seal. Which has the right amount of softness to gently open/close the door.
  • Cleaned it up with hot water and dawn dish soap.
  • Then reconditioned the seal with 303. - It came out looking really good.
  • Problem solved!

Old dirty seal.

Old dirty seal.

Dawn soap and water.

This stuff is magic.

Here's how the used OEM door seal turned out after cleaning and conditioning.

Replaced the engine air filter.
I switched from using fram, to the HENGST brand air filters.

Hengst has 32.18% more filter surface area, but does cost 156% more.

Data below.

Fram CA3901 - $5.21 - 87 pleats - 1044 Sq Inches
Hengst E792L - $13.37 - 115 pleats - 1380 sq inches

During my regular engine bay cleaning & inspection I found the oil pressure sensor leaking.
Ordered a new one from MOPAR, the part # is slightly different, but does interchange with the OEM part #.

Installed the new sensor, cleaned the electrical plug with contact cleaner to remove the engine oil.

Tested and oil pressure readings are good, no leaks.

Plug on car harness.

Took some time to rebuild / freshen up the HVAC controls.

The 25 year old grease was gummed up, so I cleaned that off using contact cleaner.

Put fresh silicone / dielectric grease on all the parts, and the ***** turn more smoothly now with a "tactile feedback" vs the gummy-goo type feeling with the old thick grease.

Forgot to take photos after cleaning the parts! Also polished up the wood grain plastic with some plastic polish.

Default ECU repair

240,100 Miles

Capacitors failed in the ECU - over 26 years old.

Replaced them with 3 new capacitors at the same rating. Works again!

Used some Silicone to seal the cover shut.

I had the same issue on my friends 92 XJ. It wouldn't start if it was cold outside. It had to sit in the sun on cold days. Drove me crazy trying to figure that out!!

Replaced the driver side bumper cover, so both sides are fresh and match.

Regular oil change, cut open the older filter for inspection, looks fine.
