Default Transmission TV cable

The OG transmission TV cable (which controls hydraulic line pressure) was beginning to fail.

I removed the transmission oil pan to replace the cable with a new unit.

Also installed a new filter, and gasket- No RTV was used (RTV does not belong here)

Bad cable

Installing the new cable

Cleaned the pan + new gasket

Repaired some of the wiring today.

Ignition coil wiring had seen better days, spliced in new wire and used these solder / heat shrink combos for a weather tight seal.

Harmonic balancer reinstalled.

old wiring / connector

OE wiring left, new wiring right.

Solder and glue lined heat shrink.

3M tape installed

After getting the jeep back from a friend, the center console was beyond dirty.

I took everything apart and cleaned it with soapy warm water.

Also replaced the Sealed beam headlights with LED headlights from www.vintagecarleds.com

I've also replaced the worn and faded turn signal housings as new ones were only $2 each.

Front grille/ header panel bolted back on.

Super dirty center console.

Dirt.

Funk

zoomed in on funk

Cleaned up well

Took this apart to clean

Out to dry.

Cleaned up pretty well.

Old sealed beam and old turn signal lamps

Side by side old vs new

New LED headlight & turn signal installed.

Trim installed.

229,xxx miles

Replaced the Rear diff fluid today, used a paper gasket again with no sealant.

Gave the rear diff cover a coat of gloss black paint.

Quick spray, not my best work.

230,xxx miles

I found a really clean factory steering wheel, so I switched back to the stock XJ style wheel.

Getting pretty good MPG while on the highway at 65 mph!

Very clean buttons & leather.

I just reread your build thread... Great job on the maintenance and upgrades... The undercarriage looks super clean and I'm betting you'll get many years of service from your XJ...I like the orange sharpie trick.. Does it cut down on the light coming through the needles ?? And lastly , for the mileage that ring and pinion look to have many miles left on them I'm surprised how good they look for the use on them...
