Default 1999 Cherokee Sport in Mass Build Thread

Whats up guys, I'm proud to be the new owner of a 99 xj thats in pretty decent condition. It has a lot of miles, 252K, but it runs great on and off the highway. I've already made a few changes to it but here it is the way I got it. As I go along I'll update with photos and notes. I'm always happy to get feedback, positive or negative, and any recommendations about mods/maintenance.

Thanks for checking out my Cherokee!
-Chris

it is starting to spread to the door jams tho

Pass rear looks pretty good as well

Not sure if anything is hiding behind those camo vinyl stickers but looks OK

Comes with TERAFLEX spacer leveling kit (driver side)

Passenger side looks like it has some rust to be dealt with on the shock

Rear shackles look pretty good

Not sure if this is Dana 35 or 44 or Chrysler 8.25

Came with decent tires that should hold me over till I get some nice 32's

9/1/16 - a few updates, removed the old rusty bumper and started removing some of the rust on the frame, installed new bumper "painted" with bedliner

The bumper was trash but underneath wasnt so bad

Old bumper and replacement bumper

All cleaned and ready to go

Removed the camo and installed the new bumper covered in bedliner with redone end caps as well

Just a little cosmetic change to make the front end look a little nicer

Made a few more cosmetic changes, changed the oil and for 253K the oil was pretty clean. Checked all the fluids and things are looking pretty solid. Took advantage of the good weather and took the Jeep up to Vermont for some camping, and a little scenic trip on the way back to Mass through NH. This 4.0 train just keeps going and going

Next will be to remove the rust from the bottom of the doors and paint the bottom black all around. Then cut off the bottoms of the rear panels that are rusty and try to find a way to keep the stock bumper covers on (I like them). Then if I have time before it gets too cold I'll be removing the windshield to redo the corners on the roof before the windshield leaks anymore. I'd like to have a warm winter inside the Jeep, no leaks!
