Default 1995 Grand Cherokee Limited

Hey guys, just bought my first car! It's a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. 5.2L V8, Quadra-Trac full time 4x4, Dana 30 front axle and Dana 35 rear axle. Stone white with gold trim and gold trimmed snowflake wheels. Don't have many pictures of it because it's dark right now, but here a couple I took at a gas station on the way home.

Overall it's in good shape, the body is straight, it runs strong, all the gauges work, and the radio works great (even came with a free CD, titled "The Music Of Mexico").
Dad says I have to keep it mostly stock for now
But plans for the future are:
3.5" lift
31x10.5x15 BFG All Terrains
MAYBE a transfer case swap 249->242
Flowmaster muffler or maybe full cat back system
Cold air intake
5.9 Limited Hood Louvers
Homemade roof rack

I'll keep the thread updated with repairs/upgrades I do in the future.

Forgot to mention, on the drive to Ahwatukee from Glendale where I bought it (about 30 miles), I averaged 22 mpg!

Tomorrow, I'm going to add a reciever hitch mounted tow hook. I'm making it, so I will probably make a fabrication thread for it. I'll post the link here. That's all for tonight!

Ok, no fabrication thread. I got so into making it and getting it done, I forgot to stop and take pictures!
I'll explain what I did.

Materials needed:
2"x2" square steel tubing, 9.5 inches long
Tow hook-I used a Harbor Freight 10,000lb hook, cost approx. $7
Bolts to mount hook to tubing (HF hook comes with bolts)

How to Make it:
1. Cut 2x2 tubing to approx. 9.5" long (length might vary depending on your hitch receiver)
2. Mark and drill holes at one end for the tow hook to mount on
3. Mount tow hook
4. Slide the tube into your reciever hitch, position it so the edge of the hook is about 1 inch from the mouth of the reciever
5. Use a sharpie and mark the holes for the hitch pin
6. Drill holes for the hitch pin (they are big, best to use a step drill bit)
7. (OPTIONAL) Paint the color of your choice

This is essentially what the receiver tow hook looks like, but since I got the square tubing from school for free (auto tech teacher let me take it), it cost me 1/3 the price of buying it pre-made.

Next order of business is to disable the VIC. It keeps beeping and telling me I have a rear lamp failure, but they are all working perfectly. It will free up a nice space for a switch panel or a CB eventually. I'll take pictures of the process tomorrow.

Made a bunch of progress today. I went to Pick n Pull and luckily they had 3 ZJ's to take parts from, two 93 grand wagoneers and a 96 limited.
I was missing the "J" from the front emblem, so I pulled it off the 96 Limited and stuck it in my pocket.

Also pulled some new seats from one of the 93 Grand Wagoneers, mine were pretty beat up.

Also replaced the rear wiper fluid squirter, the clips on mine were broken. Didn't take any pictures though...

And I figured out why my transfer case wouldn't shift back into 4hi from 4lo:

Popped that back into place and now it works and shifts great:

When I was tightening the bolt on the bottom of one of my fog lights, the bolt broke off (plastic hardware FML) and the light hit the deck. The glass lense shattered. Back to harbor freight for a new set tomorrow! Good thing they're on sale right now...
