The size of those tires just look like 35" that is nice!!! I'm looking forward to hearing about your first outing with it once you get the SYE and driveshaft installed. I'm sure your just as anxious! Nicely done
I did the front end alignment and took it out for a short spin. Drives good pleased with that and the ride is nice. I’m sure it will change some as It breaks in. Right now I have a Iron v8 sitting in the back to help break in the rear springs. That extra weight has the xj just a touch high in the back. About 3/4”
You got the driveshaft in with SYE already or just taking it out the way it is for that short spin?
I went ahead and put the t-case lowering kit on it. It was in the kit. That way I could drive it some and make sure the ailment was good. The sye should be in Tuesday and then I’ll measure for a driveshaft.
The caster is off as in not enough for driving at speed. The adjustable upper ca as at their shortest length. Look at what I can do to fix it. May try the offset ball joints?
The shackle angle sucks in this xj and that with 350lbs if Sbc in the truck. I needed to fix that issue just for the sake of the ride. I’ve looked at all the shackle relocation kits and even slider boxes. I really do not need or want anymore lift and wouldn’t miss loosing a little. Right now it’s even. After looking at everything and considering the budget I decided to just build some no lift shackle relocation brackets. I really believe anyone who can cut and weld steel could easily build a set. I have 15$ in the steel and it will be mounted using 5 mount bolts in three different places and should be plenty strong.
This is what a shackle relocation bracket looks like in the raw
This is the basic idea. Weld on each side will make it stronger than a break.
Shackle angle, while not the worst is this bad with 350lbs in the cargo area.
The shackle is making contact in this bolt when compressed.
Did the rubicon express sye on the 242 t-case and installed new driveshafts on both ends. Adams Driveshaft hooked me up two shafts for $470 shipped. Extreme duty with 7.5” slip. Life is good. Waiting on the jcr nut strips and then i’ll Install the homemade shackle hangers.
I have vibs with this set up. Have degree shims on order. With the stock shaft there was no vibration, but the U joints were binding with any axle droop.
