1 Ton Cherokee on 49's
2 Attachment(s)
I bought this Cherokee for $4000, but its not built very well. I t came with a Dana 30 front and a GM 14 rear.I knew what i was getting when I bought it. I found an awesome deal on Yukon 1 ton axles with 5.13s and lockers on a mud truck for $1000( they guy won't part it out so I'm gonna get the whole thing) . I'm probably gonna run a Dana 300 transfer case. I'm gonna keep the aw4 and I6 for now at least. The engine and trans are lowered so it has a fairly low center of gravity(for it's size haha) Ill run custom CV shafts front and rear. I'm gonna run leaf springs in the back with no lift blocks, and 4 link front. I have a Rock Ram hydro assist and I'm gonna run High steer knuckle on the Dana 60. I just wanted to share with y'all my starting point- Any thoughts/ideas/tips please feel free to share(keep in mind its a MUD TRUCK not a rock crawler theres no rocks to climb in Florida!)- I'll gonna have new pictures soon as i buy the axles- here's what it looks like now
Its gonna be my daily driver/mud truck :tank: |
Holy Effn Blocks.... Wow just looked at your pics man that thing is huge!!!!! Verrrrry clean thou
Thanks man, I'm gonna get rid of those scary 6" blocks when I rebuild it I'm gonna extend the sub frame and get rid of the blocks entirely.
is that even legal??, i bet it rubs at full turn
Wow, how the hell do you get in that thing?
It's cool though. I knaw down in Flo-rida they like 'em like that. Fer the swamps. |
I would suggest the same Idea I am playing around with in my mind. Cause I'm cheep as hell thinking of running a divorced t-case behind my existing t-case. It would add a hole lot more gear options for real cheep! And Just wondering if its mud only why not make things easy and go with leafs in the front too. Just wondering.
I thought I read you were going into the military? I wanna see it in person. I live here in Jax too.
The only reason I'm not going to run leafs up front is because I already have a nice 4 link setup and it flexes really nice. Sounds like a crazy idea having a divorced t-case along with your existing one because of Cherekee's short wheelbase. I would suggest getting a doubler like a 203/205 setup but even then the angles would get bad. But hell, if you can pull it off with a divorced, then go for it!
Ive decided to wait to enlist till i graduate college and Tulsa welding school, so I'm building it while I have time! It's no longer for sale. Once I have it build I'd love to go wheeling some time. I'm gonna take it to Auggie bog and Hog Waller as soon as I get it done.
cool keep me posted b/c I will go the days you are there. Maybe we can get the others on here to go.
..... wow. i guess bigger is better with mud huh... but cool! how do you get in it? just out of curiosity?
EVERYONE asks how I get in it hahaha, I put 1 foot on the front tire and grab on top of the windshield and pull myself up. It's not very hard to get into

Would def get those steering angles fixed. That looks like it should be nominated for that scary steering website.
Other than that looks like a fun project, love the pizza cutters! |
