I'd prefer an aluminum unit. Less weight and no rust.

I don't be knowing how to weld.

You can weld aluminum also. Its pretty easy to learn how to weld. And a good welder runs about 400-500 bucks. Just think that's the price of your average roof rack or bumper. Then imagine how much money you'll save when you start building all your own stuff just by purchasing the steel (or Aluminum ) needed to do the project.

I think it would be cool to learn to weld, I know Kirk loves that he can weld now. He told me "it's life changing"

One more thing I have no desire to learn how to do: WELD

But I see your point.

LOl. Ya he tells me that every day. Whenever I need something welded I just use his or have him do it for me. I need to buy my own. But just haven't got around to buying mine yet. Lol.

If I learned to weld I think I'd be unstoppable. I can knit, I can do some carpentry, so if I could weld too, I could make anything lol. Maybe one day I will play around doing metal work on my green Jeep. I figure if I screw it up the body is pretty much junk to me anyways at this point, if I don't screw it up it will be awesome that I could fix it. not much to lose.

Yep why not. Like you said not much to loose but much to gain. Kirk bought his Lincoln Welder from Lowes during the employee discount day and got a good deal on it.
