Hey OBX jeepers. I live in newport, NC. I bought some property. now a neighbor is trying to bully me out of my home. He has placed a pile of "shell sand" in my drive way and told me if I wanted to get through I should drive over it. I'm looking for people to help me "drive through " Please message me for details or call 423 470 3310.

Thanks all you guys. I'll be spending my day looking for a lawyer. This @sshat thinks he can bully people, He's trying to run me off my land. It's not much but I've worked hard to get into its current condition.

Have you tried talking to him face to face?
Research voice recording and record the conversation to protect yourself if it is legal.
Sometimes a situation can be resolved with an adult conversation.
If that doesnt work.
Id secure a lawyer and document everything without antagonizing the situation.
Talk to your neighbors if you have any and see if he has a history of this behavior. Especially a legal documented history.
Being a Jarhead like me this approach is easier said then done but its the right way to handle it in my opinion.

being that he is your neighbor I feel that handling this the most adult way first would be best because ultimately unless you or him move your going to have to be neighbors. with that being said if polite conversation fails legal action is the only way to go get the police involved and get it on record. also WHY is he doing this. what did you do to provoke him? any issues between you two? I doubt he would do this unprovoked, he has to have a reason however immature or insignificant it may be

Finding a lawyer is going to be as hard as finding a cherokee that doesn't squeak. He has used every lawyer we've talked to. If they have represented him in the past I can't use them. Conflict of interest. Thanks for hearing me out. I'll keep you all updated.

Just to be clear... You are going from the road in the back ground to your land on the road that has a sand pile on it? That road crosses his property Im guessing. That is his issue?

I'm very sure you have a deeded right of way. He can not block a ROW! If your house were on fire or someone is hurt how would emergency personal come to help in a timely matter. Check your deed for a ROW, once you find it go on the main land and get a lawyer. Find a young one that is just getting started, they tend to be a bit more aggressive.

He is breaking one of the only rules about easements, don't block them...
This was my first answer, but it's definitely beyond a civil conversation at this point. Best thing you could do is avoid contact and not break the law in any way yourself, obviously get a lawyer.
I'm sure he didn't get ALL the lawyers, but you may have to travel to find one willing. Is he popular in your town or something? Well connected, like an old contractor who has made allot of friends type of thing? It's just strange that you got the same line from so many different people.
Take dated pictures and keep a journal with date/time of anything he does towards you or any and all interactions you have, DO NOT BREAK THE LAW or retaliate. If you aren't sure, don't do it. You'll be allot more confident going into court being 100% in the right.
Good luck dude, this kind of thing always sucks.
Oh, and my XJ don't squeak, rattle, knock, tick, or klunk

If there was any easements on the land before he bought it he cant contest them. He knew they were there when he bought it and had the choice not to buy it. look up your local laws on easements. I know with my land there is a road that runs through 4 properties mine being the second of the four. I have no right to close it because then the 2 behind me wouldn't have access to their land. Its kind of the thing you can only contest when it starts. If it has already started years before you came along then there is nothing you can do about it. You can look at local records and what not to try to find when the road was made.
