Default Looking for some off-road camping areas

At some point this summer, my 12 year old son and I are looking to take a two week camping trip away from Mom. I am trying to find an area where we can get off-road (not technical at all, fireroads, dirt etc) and camp. Maybe near a lake to spend about 10 days fishing and chilling.
Any suggestions on where I can start looking?
We will be coming from north of Baltimore so looking in WV or VA as to not back our drive down too far.

Thanks in advance.

We have camped at Sleepy Creek near Martinsburg, WV. Lots of hiking and a lake to fish. It's a little more of a drive, but we also liked Lost Creek, WV a lot. A friend loaned us a cabin for the weekend, but I know there is camping there also. Have fun.

The Crabtree Falls area near Tyro, VA offers some good camp sites, trails, and fishing on the Tye River, Montebello hatchery, and a few other spots.
