Default Asheville / Pisgah Forest Trails?

Hey y'all,

I'm finally getting my Cherokee up to spec for some decent off-road travel, but I've only been able to find one or two trails within an hour of Asheville, NC here. So far, I've heard that Hurricane Creek out west toward the Smokies is a good time if fairly tame and that there's some spots out by Marion that aren't official but can be jumped on.

So, my question is, does anyone have the lead on easy access to decent trails? Not looking for Moab or rock climbing here, but just some fun wheelin'. I heard from a WNC student that there are trails all over out by Cullowhee but he was vague.

I'm not sure if the park is still open or not but Calalentie Off Road park is in Mt City TN, its a lot of fun.

I highly recommend "Armour All" and "Welder"

Here is one of the ledges at Armour All

Here is "the waterfall" on Armour All. I followed this buggy up Welder until my ignition coil failed while crossing a log. It wasn't much fun swapping coils while high centered on a log LOL!

The owner's kids decided to close it. I seen somewhere, someone wanted to buy it with a large group of people, can't remember where I saw it though.

I'll be taking a 5 day trip to Harlan this summer. I've heard nothing but good things about that place. I'm really excited. Just have to fit it in the schedule with moving, and all the other great stuff my summer consists of lol.

Nice, Marion is plenty close enough for some day-trip wheeling and I've got a friend with a cabin up that way. Could be the perfect combo...thanks!

they don't have to block trails for it to be trespassing. it's clearly stated on here and everywhere else it's closed. they shouldn't have to go to every single tree and put a no trespassing sign up. it's people like you who ruin good places.
