Bad rotors/drums won't cause soft pedal. If they're "bad", you will feel them shake when you hit the brakes(warped) or, if they are scored/look like hell. Try flushing your brake fluid, and adjust your rear brakes and im sure you'll notice a big difference.

Yep. Brake fluid is hygroscopic. That means it absorbs moisture from the air, and moisture makes it less effective. Flushing your brake fluid is an often overlooked piece of maintenance that can make a huge difference.

Side note: Don't use brake fluid from a container that has been open more than a week

Good rule of practice, but YMMV. However, for internet *******ery, I agree. Haha

It's actually hygroscopic or hydrophilic. We both made a typo lol

Hydrophilic - Bonds with water on a molecular level
Hygroscopic - Attracts and absorbs water, without bonding

Brake fluid is hygroscopic because it absorbs water, like a sponge made of liquid. It doesn't change the chemical makeup of the brake fluid, but it does dilute it, making it less effective.

hmmm yes! Ethanol is hydroscopic...? Idk what bonds and what doesnt!

hydrophobic repels water...this is the most scientific thread on this whole forum...
