Bad rotors/drums won't cause soft pedal. If they're "bad", you will feel them shake when you hit the brakes(warped) or, if they are scored/look like hell. Try flushing your brake fluid, and adjust your rear brakes and im sure you'll notice a big difference.

Side note: Don't use brake fluid from a container that has been open more than a week

Yep. Brake fluid is hydroscopic. That means it absorbs moisture from the air, and moisture makes it less effective. Flushing your brake fluid is an often overlooked piece of maintenance that can make a huge difference.

It's actually hygroscopic or hydrophilic. We both made a typo lol

Hygroscopic - Attracts and absorbs water, without bonding
Brake fluid is hygroscopic because it absorbs water, like a sponge made of liquid. It doesn't change the chemical makeup of the brake fluid, but it does dilute it, making it less effective.

Hydrophilic - Bonds with water on a molecular level
