Hello everyone! I recently purchased a 97 XJ for $1200 that I've been restoring. Initially I'm going to get her back into original shape and later I'll lift her and add tires and armor. Body is 99% rust free. Motor and trans have 171k and run strong. This weekend I'll be replacing the water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket, trans pan sealant, right front u-joint, both rear drive shaft u-joints, trac-bar, swaybar links and frame mount bushings, right front brake caliper, rear shocks, oil filter base gasket, and replacement of all fluids. Anyways, good to be here. This sight has been a great source of info!

Thx for the welcome. Most of that maintenance is for reliability. Also, I'll replace the rusted r/r brake line which looks like it could give at any time.

I had to look up Hanover, MD to see where it was on the map. I've passed close by many times when I lived near Solomon's Island and came back to PA.

If you maintain these trucks right they'll last damn near forever. So good choice.

Default Just another new guy

Hey everyone. I have been interested in this site for a while yet i was too lazy to make an account. Finally decided since it is summer time to create one and share my interest of jeeps with others. I have a red 98 Cherokee Classic, which is my first car (got it 3 years ago). Currently named the "Rainbow Jeep" (passenger front quarter panel as well as hood are different colors) after having an accident my first winter with it. It is completely stock due to lack of funds however in the upcoming weeks i will be painting it. Hopefully in the next few years i will have my jeep to how i want it to be

MONEY JAR IS EMPTY

Welcome, but only if you stop referring to it as a v6. It's an inline 6.

Old habits die hard.
Update: as of yesterday I have no muffler. Exhaust caught the ground backing off a hill and wrapped around the rear axle. That was fun replacing.

Welcome indeed! We've got a thread here for the Buffalo and Rochester area. I also run WNY 4x4 Club on Facebook, feel free to check us out. We've got a few guys going to Whispering Pines tomorrow. They should be there by 11.
