MECHANICAL FAN CLUTCH

It is what the motor relies on to keep cool at idle. Just because its spinning does not mean it is spinning fast enough to pull the amount of CFMs to cool it.

Damn it. Jakbob beat me to it.
Have you checked your fan clutch? Run your rig until its warmed up. Take a rolled up newspaper and try to stop your mechanical fan. If you can stop or even slow it down at operational temps its time to replace it. $40 bucks at advance auto. 4 bolts, easy fix.
