nope. It either works or it doesn't if it was anything else.

sounds like the float is getting hung up on something. It may be worthwhile to pull the pump and check it out - you may be able to fix it.

If you do get a new pump though - stay away from AIRTEX brand.

everything I have ever heard has said yes, you need a different oil pressure sending unit and coolant temperature sending unit when you swap the gauges

Green2000's XJ must have had them replaced at some point by the PO, and they installed the gauge version of the sensors. Lucky him!
