A while back I read on the boards about using either a dodge or chevy van or pickup truck's rear shackles to get 1 -1 1/2" lift rather than purchase aftermarket shackles [which would be higher priced]. The lift would be because the springs were mounted under the axle rather than on top, like an XJ????? Ring a bell with anyone?
The cost for these shackles was in the $30s if I remember correctly.

Drove the zj around last night just to find it won't get to operating temp now. I always knew the thermostat was funky, it always had trouble opening in the summer. So I'll probably go and grab a factory t-stat from the stealership today.
